Wind protection on Audace?
« on: May 24, 2017, 07:19:06 PM »
Hey guys,

Anybody have a windshield/windscreen on their Audace?  Any thoughts, ideas?  I don't own an Audace, but am considering one.  It would be nice to have a little wind protection for those longer journeys.  Maybe something with a quick detach?  I really wouldn't want it on all the time.

I don't know if any of the California 1400 screens would work, but they are not listed for the Audace.

Have you asked a dealer?  I've looked on the obvious websites and nothing.  But, I bet a dealer can help you out.  If not, you could make one, have some quick-release brackets fitted and probably sell a few.

Been looking at this myself... The challenge seems to be that not that many have been sold yet, so aftermarket support is pretty limited (even if it looks like something SHOULD work, the vendor is not sure because they have never tried it).

Spoke with a couple of the well-known dealers (AF1 and MI) and neither had fitted a screen to an Audace other than the factory medium screen with the shorter mounting kit. The flyscreen for the Custom is confirmed to NOT work.

From looking at the pictures, it looks like the headlight on the V9 Bobber is pretty similar, so I am thinking a fly screen made for a V9 might work (thinking about the Marlin or Piranha myself).

Please let us know if you come across a better solution.

I had a Dart on my Rocket III and it was perfect.  Dart marlin on my V7-again, perfect.  Can't imagine it wouldn't work four your bike.
I also had them on several Bonnevilles and an America.  Always worked great-pressure off the chest and helmet in clean (quiet) air.

Not sure if this will work for you. Think it needs indicators lowered slightly for an Audace.

The puig looks good and works well with out any turbulence . It's great for hot summer days. You needed to mess around with the brackets for proper installation.

The National screen is taller and easy to install. It offers better wind protection and adjustability. It's great for cooler days. For reference I'm 6.1 and use 1.5 inch handlebar risers.

That Puig looks sharp on there, not sure it would look as good on the black one, but thats a solid choice! I forgot they made the Audace in that burnt orange, sweet goose that one
