Springfield Mile
« on: August 30, 2017, 08:48:25 PM »
Looks like four of us are heading there from the west.  John S got us hooked up at the Doubletree with a room to include tickets & Tshirt.  I think Darren, John, Doug & myself are riding there on Saturday afternoon and leaving after the race.

Just thought I'd throw this out for a roll call.

If you haven't seen a race there, well, it's great.

I haven't seen the Springfield mile since 67.  Who is National # 1 in the photo and what is he riding?
What kind of speeds do the bike get on a mile track these days?
Last time I went the hot shoes were Bart Markle, Neil Keene, Eddie Mulder, Joe Leonard, Gary Nixon,
George Roeder, and the immortal Dick Mann.
I think it was on this track the following year that Dick Mann lost his steel shoe early on and still pulled second place
sliding the corners feet on the pegs.
Sasquatch Jim        Humanoid, sort of.

Can't wait to get started!

When we heading out, John L?

Breakfast in Tulsa again?   :food:

Funny Darren,  I've been packing the bike and just got in to look at the board.  I just texted you:

Darren.  Plan to be your house around 7. Breakfast in Tulsa  That good?

I have been to Pike's Peak hill climb several times and it made me want to go to Bonneville to watch another iconic American speed event.  I should probably add the Springfield Mile to that list.

You should join us! I'll keep going every year until I'm either too old to throw a leg over a bike or the nursing home won't send someone along to change my depends. If you see one you'll not miss another. This makes two runs to the mile for me this year!

I could have sworn that Stormtruck was calling her Eleanor when he crashed her . "What the Eleanor is going on here"
