Breva 1100 ICV P0505 error
« on: September 17, 2017, 08:47:07 AM »
Following my issues with the ECU disconnecting ( see here http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=91817.0) I found the faulty speed sensor and sorted it

I started it for the first time today and its thrown an new challenge for me to solve.

It started but ran badly and struggled to idle

I can't read the codes via the dash (LCD poorly) but Guzzi Diag shows 2 errors P0352 - to low and P0505 - no sig

505 appears to be a ICV issue and 352 suggests an ignition problem - I know that there isn't always a direct read across from "normal" OBD codes

Tacking the 505 error first, while I was sorting the ECU disconnect problem out I noticed that the ICV sort of "groaned" like it was struggling or stiff during the pre-start sequence

Then it gave up making any noises at all

I've tried to drive the ICV via GuzziDiag (engine stopped) which results in nothing no noises

Before I dive in and pull the airbox to get to the ICV I'd appreciate the forums thoughts

If the ICV stuck somewhere would the ECU interpret that as no signal thus causing the error?

Cheers

Update

I pulled the earth by the starter and gave it a clean and a glare and the P0352 appears to have gone.

Just the P0505 the solve

My Breva 1100 exhibited some really strange stuff recently and it turned out to be a dicky 30amp fuse - perhaps a hairline crack.  I read of a Sport 1200 with similar issues to mine and it was a dirty 30amp fuse holder.

So my suggestion is to pull and clean or replace the 30amp fuses.

I used to clean out the stepper w/carb cleaner, blow air thru, spray in some silicone. The early metal ones are known to stick. Spray right down big tube on R/H side of airbox.

Thanks everyone.

I've had some suspicious about the ICV for a little while - engine would only idle at about 1000 RPM

I think I'll pull the ICV so I can look at properly

Root cause with ICV was that I fixed it until it broke else where trying to find the original fault - bent pin in the ECU.

Pin straightened and Error gone.

However, I tried to stoke the ICV using GuzziDiag and I get nowt!

I'm probably not using it correctly so can somebody talk me through how to use it.

Note
Tank is off so not plugged into loom
Both coils on ICV read 52 Ohms

Cheers

EDIT
I'm a Muppet - engine has to be running!!
I presume it just ups the revs and drops them back ...... or something
