Against My Better Judgement
« on: September 26, 2017, 02:16:47 PM »
Like the fool I am I decided to "Go for it"

Prior to this attempt, fluids in, plugs out & cranked until oil pressure established
TPS was set (very easy with My ECU none of this measuring voltage m'larky)
First attempt not recorded, as soon as I started to crank I got mildly moist, turned out the fuel sender Thermistor was pissing fuel down my leg. Quickly (VERY QUICKLY) whipped the tank off and aborted. Fixed the leak with an O ring.
Second attempt recorded and the first attempt probably accounts for why it did what it did so fast.

Video is too long and very hastily edited, apologies.

I'm hoping balancing the throttle bodies cures the pops and backfires I'm getting, but time will tell
Also found out the horns, which look the biz are actually bloody woeful too.

All in all though a pretty happy bunny

Hooray for Jock :thumb:
Backfiring maybe bleed screws too far open and TB balance as you suggested.
MyECU is the business.
Remember to check the TPS multiple times as this can change drastically especially if you are too far off the end stop and may be adding to the poor running. DAHIK  So read, adjust map, load map and read and adjust if necessary. You should not see a great variation between the engine stopped read of the TPS or idle value.

Regards,

Adam

Well done, Jock. It's looking very pretty, all tarted up.

I've heard my mate in NZ has removed the fairing from his Sfida to install a round 7in headlight & is happy with that. I'll check it out in Feb at the Burt.

And just to keep us on our toes, a mate here in Sydney has scored this one -

She's alive!  Fired up quicker than my VFR does, John  :thumb:  (..now all you need is a few nice dry winter days to blow away the cobwebs).

First

Thanks all for the compliments

This bike has/is a real problem child with all sorts of weird minor faults which come up & bite when least expected

During the first aborted attempt I also found when I whipped off the tank that the filler cap has a leak where is attaches to the tank too, so it's one step forward and 2 back usually

It is getting there and that was a major milestone, now I wonder what's lying in the sump after that little run

Fun isn't it?  :thumb:

Chuckee I could not hold a candle to your skills but thank you for giving us all the idea, although only a fool like me would be stupid enough to try to emulate your deeds.

After the initial shock, trepidation & stomach turning over as you "hit the tit" I think relief is probably more accurate........... ......that then lead (in my case anyway) to the manic high you feel because it didn't go Dogga, dogga, dogga.............. ..well not yet anyway. Pete will probably be left wondering why all the dammed fuss if he stumbles across the thread.

flangeman_70 thanks for the tips, although I did own a Daytona for a long time I never messed much with the injection system, so it's all pretty new and I appreciate any the advice I get

Malik that is a strange color for a Magni, never seen one like that, it appears to be an Arturo or possibly a  Classico with pieces added. It has all the hallmarks of a mighty fine machine, just coz I'm not quite so keen on the color scheme detracts not a jot from what it is, a great rare motorcycle

Yes, it's an Arturo, out of Japan. Bruce wasn't sure about the colour at first, but it's grown on him. There's work to be done (mufflers, frame paint, parallelogram paintwork, breathers and he's not the type to leave it he found it), but the new seat is fine & it's going well - was on the track at Lakeside last weekend & he's very happy with it. It's a very nice machine, but your Sfida's stunning. Good luck with the final touches.
