P0611 Error
« on: October 01, 2017, 02:44:42 AM »
hey Y'all

GuzziDiag is showing an error: P0611, on my 2012 v7r 1tb.

According to the Guzzitech website, this error is:
"- Fuel Injector Control Module Performance -- **This lives continuously on the Guzzi MIU ECU. Check to see if you have an over-charging scenario : 15V+ at idle - replace voltage regulator immediately**"

The bike appears to run fine though.

Any idea what I should be checking, if anything? According to this explanation above, I should be checking the voltage regulator - forgive my newbieness, but precisely how do I do that? (I do have a multi-meter, just not sure which wires I should check).

Guzzidiag has a number of windows that can show a number of things, like engine temperature, tps angle, etc.  There are pulldown lists of things you can monitor.  One is voltage.  According to the message you quoted, the voltage should be less than 15 at idle.  That will tell you what the voltage regulator is doing.  If it looks normal, rev the bike and watch the voltage rise.  It should not exceed 15v.

Why are you checking codes if the bike is running good?  Why do you think this is a current error?

Ignore it. The GT site is wrong. From the MIU technical training manual:

Data buffer full and triggered by special events.

The data buffer stores the engine operating parameters in the event of UNFORESEEN engine cut-out.  The contents of the buffer must be downloaded for further analysis. An error can only be cancelled after the buffer has been downloaded.

Since we cant download the buffer, and it causes no harm, just ignore it.

But you can still check your voltage. Best is directly at the battery terminals.

Ah awesome - this is a great tip - thanks!

Why are you checking codes if the bike is running good?  Why do you think this is a current error?

When I started it up this morning, the check engine light came on, and stayed on. I plugged it into GuzziDiag to see what errors were showing, and was 2 errors: P0366 (speed sensor?) and the 0611 error. I cleared the 366 error (figured it was because I was installing led indicators yesterday and jiggled something). The check engine light went off, but the 0611 error stayed, and I couldn't clear it.

Ah-ha thanks Mark! Easy fix :)

I've gotten into a habit of turning off my motorcycle using the key instead of the kill switch. A motorcycle trainer told me once that its a better method of shutdown. Maybe that caused the error?
