Update! Lady Found Adjustable Levers.
« on: October 19, 2017, 04:43:44 PM »
I'm a lady rider with small hands, and I'd love to hear your adjustable lever recommendations for my V7 III Anni.  If you have a good U.S. supplier, Id be happy to send them some business.

Thanks again for helping!

The woman I sold my Racer too was complaining of problems with lever span and ordered some fleabay cheapies. I can see if I can find out what they were and sk for pics if you'd like?

Sure!  Is lever “sizing” standard, and how do I know what will fit Anni?

How much money do you have to spend? You will be somewhat restricted as the V7 doesn't have radial master cylinders and most after market levers are manufactured for modern sports bikes. I have Pazzo's on one bike the pervious owner fitted them I personally don't rate them I won't go the short levers on a road bike either. Although I understand Pazzo do have a specific kit for the V7.

You may find although it would take a bit of research than the standard levers from and older model bike that are adjustable will fit "most" Brembo stuff is interchangeable so levers for bikes like the 916/996/998 early Aprilia Millie/Falco Touno Guzzi 1100 sport Yamaha Tenere 600 pivot point and the bit to active the brake light are the important parts. This route may be the cheapest.

I have a set of these, on a try hard piece of munt http://bellissimoto.com/PRPControls.html and I rate them n.b. NFI about the retailer they are sold fairly widely for a number of bikes.

I understand completely, in fact I almost didn't get the Breva because of it. I too have short fingers and largish palms. Makes finding bike gloves a real pain. By the time I can get my hand in to them the fingers on the gloves are about an inch too long.

I couldn't find any adjustables at the time so as an interim measure (back in early 2004) I found a bit of plastic coated phone cable and tied it around the handle about where the cable exits. Holds the lever a bit closer to the bar. Works a treat. The cable adjustment needed is very fine as a result, but doable.

When it went for it's first post-delivery check the mechanics saw it and threw it away. I made them go through there rubbish bin and put it back on. It's still there...

I ordered cheapo eBay levers for my V7II and the fitment was crap. On the brake side they wouldn’t slide in properly, it was too tight and I wasn’t happy. Returned them and ordered pazzo’s from AF1 racing, they slid on like butter and I’m happy with them. They are pricey tho

The cheapo eBay lever that I mounted on my CB500X are not in the same league as the Pazzo's that  I've used on several other bikes in the past, also the shape of the cheep Chinese lever is uncomfortable on my fingers.

When I took delivery of the  V7 III the OEM levers were positioned perfectly horizontal and very difficult for me to reach. I adjusted the lever position, rolled them down, and it's mush better now.

If you haven't adjusted the position of the OEM levers give that a try, it may help.

I would call AF1 or email Todd at Guzzitech.

Todd seems to have a pretty broad knowledge of Guzzi compatible stuff and I would trust him on info to know what fits.
He has a very trick brembo master cylinder upgrade for the brakes that I think those few times I have to really stop in a hurry.

I have sets of the cheap Chinese Pazzo knock offs on both my V7's (from different suppliers on eBay) - they work fine, and are a better fit than the OEM levers, as well as being adjustable. Perhaps I was just lucky, as the local Guzzi shop reports a few customers having problems with the cheap ones. Those few I do know who have them are happy. At the cost of Pazzo's, it's probably worthwhile trying a set of the (colour coordinated) cheap ones first, & if not happy, save for the Pazzo's.

WOW, thanks for all the info everyone!!! :thumb:

The standard size Pazzo adjustables are a bit pricy, but the short ones (@ $89.99) might do.  What benefit are short levers, if any?

I did try to move around my levers, controls, bar, and it's still a stretch.  I was disappointed to find the control pod can't be rotated.  I keep hitting the horn instead of the blinker, which makes it seem like I'm being pissy/pushy/PMSy.  I'm very glad I haven't gotten around to improving Anni's voice!

Maybe I'll give AF1, or Moto International a ring, and see what options they'd suggest.  Todd at Guzzitech isn't very happy with me right now, as after 40 business days, I felt the need to inquire (very politely) about my engine guard order.

Thanks again!

I just contacted the woman who purchased my 'Racer'. Her levers have arrived and I've asked her to bring them out so I can fit them and adjust the clutch free play correctly. I'll take a few pics and see if they work correctly.

I do have a customer with a Breva 750 who had some shorty levers and it was almost impossible to adjust the cable so there was sufficient lever travel to fully engage the clutch when the lever was adjusted closer to the bar. Since the set-up is similar, well, pretty much identical, on the V7 series this might be an issue with the ones Pippa bought. Let me check it out and I'll report back.

For the record I have Pazzos on my Griso, (Hydraulic clutch Mind.) and the finish and *Feel* are superb! Unless you crash a lot the cost amortised over time isn't terrifically high and they are much lovelier than the cheapies.

The order No´s for the original Moto Guzzi adjustable levers (V7 III) are: COD. 2S000570 (clutch) and COD. 2S000569 (brake).

Ouch! $200! I didn't check the other one on AF1 and the number doesn't come up on Teo's.

Go Pazzo.

IMO none whatsoever on a road bike on something like a dirt bike or a super motard they allow you to keep a couple of fingers wrapped around the bars while you make mid corner adjustments however your brake setup needs to be dynamite. Haven't ridden a V7III but on the V7's the brakes are fairly dumbed down for the average rider.

As a stumpy fingered 6 1/2 note piano octave man I understand the issue

My B11 comes with adjustable levers and I find that even with them adjusted all the way in I'm never really comfortable. - Its been the same with all my bikes

However, once there pulled in hard there is little or no clearance between the lever and  the bar grip.

So my question is  do aftermarket levers allow you to start with the levers closer to the bar but still retain the full range of movement?

I struggle to see how they would without having a completely different master cylinder assembly

I got Pazzo's for my v7 III Special, and use only the brake lever.  The clutch lever required the adjuster to be screwed out too far for correct freeplay. There were not enough threads left for me to feel comfortable that it wouldn't break off, and no other adjustment is available for the cable.

Would these work?  I'd be willing to spend $100 for a pair, but as a newb, Anni's gonna get dropped, and levers will be broken.

For what is worth, i installed a cheap pair from fleabay and they work well and were easy to install (and they are short so if you drop you bike they wont brake, but if they do, its less than $10 to replace). Personally i like the short levers b/c it allows me to do one finger braking (is best if you install ebc sintered brake pads b/c you will get better braking fell and more grab) and allows me to anchor the rest of my hand by the bar end so its easier to do blip the throtlle. Anyhow, if they dont work for you, it just $10.

Mo - you got a link for the ones you bought

Also, how did you deal with the push rod on the clutch side? Was it included or did you have to transfer the existing one?

I can't remember if the Shiver uses a hydraulic clutch or a cable? I thought it was hydraulic which would immediately rule it out for use on a V7. If it does have a cable clutch it might work but it is dependent on a whole bunch of leverage and travel requirements.

These are the cheap eBay levers on the V7C. So good I got another set for the V7S (in orange & grey) Price is dependent upon which supplier you end up choosing - mine were between $25-30 OZ delivered.

The switch block CAN be rotated, but requires another hole to be drilled in the bar to accept the locating lug, so be certain your final choice of location is correct before drilling. Note that the switch block doesn't have to be very far off to impede the clutch switch (& thus no start in gear), so test thoroughly before drilling.
