Naming suggestions
« on: November 08, 2017, 02:30:26 PM »
There have been some imaginative suggestions as a name for the proposed "new" V85.
Here's a couple...
Scoperta...(Discovery)
Percorso....(Distance)
Leggero.....(Light, nimble)
None of them are great, but if I HAD to choose one it'd be #2
Of course I'd like to see..
Suono.......(Beautiful sound)

That's the best one yet.
But translated to Italian, it sounds like a Pizza variety.
You can collect your royalty cheque at the release to the public party.

Perhaps after Roman legions...the Felix or the Praetorian. Or Roman deities, like Apollo or Juno.

(This is why I dont name my bikes)

Apollo ? Hmmmm..
I guess that's apt, you could fill it with "gas" and pretend you went to the moon !

I'd call it the V85 Geococcyx.  Geococcyx is the Latin term for Roadrunner

It looks like a Roadrunner to me, which is not a bad thing.  I was born in the city of the largest roadrunner in the world, so I'm partial in that sense.

Montagna is a really good one. Alpino would work as well.

Yes!   :bike-037:

Dolomite is both an Italian mountain range and a mineral that takes millions of years to form.  It is a marine limestone similar to what forms the summit of Mount Everest.  The name Dolomite has a good sport/adventure travel history at least since Triumph named a sports racing car "Dolomite" back in the '30s and raced it in the Monte Carlo rally.

I like Cloudbase's Bastardo!

But somebody here originally came up with Griffen, which I think i supper cool, but should be spelled Grippen, like the Swede Jet fighter.

Come on, MOTO GUZZI GRIPPEN, how cool is that!
