Griso side stand
« on: November 14, 2017, 09:33:35 PM »
Anyone find a nice solution for reaching the just out of reach side stand when deployed?

Talk to someone with a California Vintage.  Now, that's a real out-of-reach stand!

no, I wear proper motorcycle boots

Griso 8V is tricky as the big cylinder will get in the way, I will sit a little forward, nearer to the tank, use the sole of the boot to press on the ball of the side stand lever to retract it

I have relatively short legs, it is not the length but the technique

You need to have at least a 30" inside leg. Otherwise you have to duct tape a hook to your left boot.

Ride a 1988-1995 R100GS and try to put it on the side stand from the saddle.  You'll never again complain about the Griso side stand!

Even with the inseam you still can't see that darn thing.  After about putting it on its side a couple of times I've become very deliberate about whole process.

With a V50 on the sidestand, all you have to do is nudge the bike slightly for an instant retraction.... Be careful what you wish for!

Is that how you ride your bicycle? No, you dismount and put down the stand.

I do find worthwhile all boot, hook and duct tape suggestions but I am most attracted to to beetles recommendation of a "30 " inside leg"! I want that...and the t-shirt that says I have it.

Harry,  my legs don't  measure anywhere near 30 inches. I welded a right angle rod on my Norge stand about midway up so now can hook it with the boot to flick up.
