Tonti fork tube length
« on: December 02, 2017, 08:03:51 AM »
Hi folks,
I haven't posted here in ages, but have taken on a 1000SP project, a basket case actually. I have a variety of fork components including FAC cartridges, NOS springs etc.
Here's my question: what is the proper fork tube length? I have some tubes that are about 23-3/4" long (+/- 60cm) and some that are about 21-1/2" long (+/- 55cm).
Which are correct for the SP front end?

Thanks in advance.

RoMoto,
I would have sworn that I still had an SP Shop Manual which contained the lengths I believe.  Cannot find that T/M, must have gone with the last SP, odd too as I am a bit of a T/M nut and hate to let them go...

Anyway, I just spent some quality time Guzziology and only find the P/N for those SP fork legs, 14525401.  I do have a T-3 here but the front end is not apart yet.

A quick look on MGCycle's site does not find a length either.  Sorry to be no help, perhaps a call to Harper's or Rick and Gordon at MGCycle one of them could help with the dimension.

Have fun with the SP project.

Best,
Rob

Thanks, Rob. I have looked in a Haynes manual and Guzziology too, as well as on the MGCycle site too - without success. Thanks for looking.
This SP project will be fun.

I've just replaced my  original T4 tubes (rust spots)part number 14525401 same as 1000SP.
Length 21 3/8" or 542mm in proper measurement..
