V7 III Anniversario Owner/Dealer Accessory Fitmint Question.

  I would like to put a luggage rack on Anni (also considering H&B twinlights, and MG engine guards), but there are some issues.  It seems that Moto Guzzi didn't intend the Anniversario to be functional, beyond riding.  The Guzzi racks won't work because of "incompatibilities with the rear fender", or so I've been told by AF1 Racing and Moto International.  MI says the small rack (model #2S000256, not available in chrome, and only rated for 7 lbs.!?!) "might" work, but AF1 says no deal.  What I want is MG's larger chrome rack (model # 2S001007), and not the ugly, spindly looking Hepco & Becker rack, which may or may not work.  When you look at the differences between the bikes, the only thing I see is the taillight assembly.  The Anni's has its own mounting bracket, where the Special's is affixed directly to the fender.

If you've added a rack, which one did you get, and did you have to do modifications?  I'm tired of having my tailbag on my curved leather seat, and not on a firm flat surface.

I had a rear rack on my Bonneville which I carried everything from a Pelican box to a large Aerostich seat bag, 'very handy.  Tho an OEM item, I never really did like the look of the thing.  On Lucia (the new Anniversario), I just can't bring myself to add one, it's just too pretty.  MG does not appear to be fleet of foot on aftermarket bits (my center stand for instance is back ordered to Italy, likely they are mining the ore right now) and this is still a relatively new model so it may be the proper bit is still in process, I'd keep checking.  A good tank bag might work in the interim and sort of fits the ethos of the bike as well.

If it were mine, I would replace the bulbous taillight assembly with something more streamlined. Check out the various "tidy tail"  or "fender eliminator" kits. They may have the parts you need. Once that is done, you should be able to install a rack.

Consequently, they might be able to tell you if you could use parts from it and still retain your rear fender, and then install the rack you want to install.

There are a number of excellent luggage choices on the Moto Machines website (aka Hepco Becker USA) for the v7III. Their black luggage rack is strong and unobtrusive and the C-Bow carriers/and panniers are perfect for a bike like the V7. Check out the links below...

That looks like a rear ending just waiting to happen.  Looks good parked in front of the coffee shop though.  I always add more lighting to my bikes instead of less.

I was in the nearest dealer looking at their latest Moto Guzzi offerings.  I didn't realize that not all V7 accessories fit on all V7s.  I am going to have to do some more research before I decide to make a move.

I really wanted to like the Stornello, but the bike just looks like it was designed for the low exhaust and seems like something is missing with the scrambler exhaust on it.

They have a beautiful V7III black special that looks tastefully done. 

I might wait for the '18 V7 Carbon unless this dealer comes off on their prices.

Now, I have to research what accessories I might want and make sure the different bikes can take them.

I put a Ventura system on my V7.  To me it's the perfect solution.  The brackets look very keen and you can swap rear racks in a second to fit what you need.

To each their own but the C bow looks a bit tart when the bags are not installed and that's a deal breaker IMHO,  and yes, I know I'm in the minority there.  Your bike is so wonderful to look at the thought of hanging anything off the side is to horrifying to contemplate.  Completely kills the line of the bike-no offence intended-just one man's opinion.

The Ventura rack sits just like a rack should and the small and/or large bags can be swapped out in a second or left off and it still looks a treat.

I'm looking at only for a rear luggage rack, preferably one prettier than the H&B ( yuck )  I had a thread about side luggage a while back, and decided that the only panniers that would fit the look of the bike would be old school leather or canvas.  Nothing modern/plastic/square would look good.  That said, this tailbag is silver, even if it is modern, so it doesn't clash too much, and it fits my helmet.  I do have the matching side bags, but wouldn't think of leaving them on Anni, but they do give me options in a pinch.

Although saddle bags/side cases/panniers look better to me than a top case, I find a top case is far more useful. (I keep taking the top case off my Norge because it looks better without, and I always put it back on because it is so much handier than the fiddly, leaky panniers.)

If you could put a rack on your Anni, you could then attach a removable, hard, waterproof, locking top case that could hold your helmet and other important items while you are out and about.

Im in the same boat I dont want to mess up Annie's looks but need a better rack for carrying stuff. Maybe some leather bags is the solution.

IMHO this is the greatest universal fit luggage system of all time.  The saddlebags work well, hold their shape when empty, and the duffel bag on top clamps on to make plenty of room for camping if you don't have a passenger.  I have had this for about 10 years and it has always fit on any bike that I owned.

I had those on my W650 but like a dolt, I sold them with the bike.  'Very flexible & when not in use
the rack comes off with two set screws as I recall.  I may need to look into those again.
