1000SP Turn Signal I.D.
« on: December 20, 2017, 11:40:09 PM »
I know my limits to what goes where, so can anyone inform me as to the difference in these two signals? The Red one is mine and has a black housing that points the lens in a more forward direction and the green one is just your average signal lens.  Is it a euro-u.s. thing or an era thing. Possibly an aftermarket thing?  Any info is appreciated.

The bottom ones were used on early ('78 & '79?) models in the US. The upper ones were used after those - on through the SP II IIRC. The early ones consist of just the signal and surround, the later ones have more pieces: signal body, mounting bracket, surround and a gasket.

From the research I did when I was looking for early bits, I found that the signal was used on several Italian cars (Maserati and Fiat 850 sedan) but the lens was sometimes clear in those applications. They were also used on Ducatis. Rather difficult to find.

Thanks for the info.  I did try to find out myself, but I was stymied.

Yes. I guess i need a parts exchange log lije i have for my vfr and BMW K100. For example, the lug nuts on a vfr are the same for a honda civic and in a pinch, you can bolt in a civic soace saver, and a K bike fuel pump is over 150 bucks, but the mustang 2 part in my bike cost 23 dollars

what's the real reason the convert u-joint/driveshaft uses 20 tooth splines and the 5 speeds use 10? I believe it to be an engineering/design choice but what's the physics behind it?
