That is nasty. Don't engage with any of these dangerous morons. About the time I started long distance riding, '77, I learned that 1 out of ten people you come in contact with was ready to flip out. I think that number has increased. It doesn't help much to be armed,in that situation , you are too busy operating the bike to get a shot off unless you set them up which is then murder. Don't engage

Its simply not worth it guys. When another vehicle does something stupid, just shake your head and thank God you wasnt hurt or killed and go ahead at enjoy your ride.

Agreed, but it's not just bikes... had a "male" I won't dignify him by calling him a man, in a jacked up pickup almost run me off the road this summer... while driving my wife's' minivan. Apparently I wasn't going fast enough to suit this idiot, never mind that the van was having a misfire issue right then that I was trying to diagnose. So he passed me, rolling coal, and cut back in front of me and stood on his brakes for a half second before tearing off over the hill. Thankfully, my idiot radar had been giving me warnings about him, so I expected his douche bag move, so I was already braking as he was passing me.

Never saw this particular idiot, or his truck before or since, and I'm grateful for that.

He is probably a descendant of Pancho Villa.
Upon enlarging the photo there appears to be clothing behind the car and pink stuff under the rear wheel and in front of the car.  Maybe the photo was taken after removal of the body, or most of it.

In a way, I suppose there's something to be said for that, in the vein of "All that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing".

Interesting how people will act like they do behind the wheel of a vehicle, when they wouldn't do the same thing on the sidewalk.   Can you imagine a guy walking up behind you on a sidewalk screaming "Hey, m********r, get out of my way or I'll kick your a$$", and giving you a push to the side ... and you don't do anything about it, despite it happening every week or so?

It's been 40 years since I did something stupid like react to someone on the road while in my vehicle, but I did have someone cut me off and then shoot me the finger a few years ago ... and then pulled over into a gas station 5 miles or so ahead where I was stopping.    As he was coming out of the building to the gas pumps, I sort of stood in his path and said "Was there something you wanted to say to me back there, after you pulled out in front of me"?    Calm and collected I was;  looking like he wanted to pee in his pants, he was, and said "No, I don't think so" and waited for me to step back to my bike.

Many times, people in cars don't see you (or themselves) as human.

It's very closely related to level of anonymity.

Likelihood of future interaction is another one that effects behavior.  The higher the likelihood of future interaction, the higher the chance of civil behavior.  I guess that's why people in the tiny town I live near say hello to each other when walking past each other in a parking lot, whereas in the same situation in the DC suburbs I grew up in, two people passing usually pretend to be very interested in something in the other direction.

I was on my concours 1400 riding into work and got behind a guy in a low convertible.  He decided he didn't like my lights and in an attempt to brake check me stalled the car.  I went on my way not thinking much about it and then checked my mirrors and he was inches behind me.

Well being on the Concours I goosed the throttle and put distance between us.  As I caught up with traffic I saw that he was closing the gap fairly rapidly.  I made a last second decision to take the exit ramp down to the access road, and back up onto the expressway in front of the traffic and then I was long gone.

Had I been on any of my current bikes I would have just had to have stayed behind him or hopefully been able to pull over without him taking me out.

A safety officer told me once that on any given day 3 out of 10 people are driving impaired.  On a weekend that number goes up to 5 out of 10.  He elaborated and said that included people on meds, fatigued, sick, etc.

A lot of the population is in a pretty poor emotional state. There's a level where they're angry at a lot of things but afraid to confront it. So you get the guy like Lannis met - he's not afraid to unleash his anger when he feels totally secure, but get him around others and he's a limp noodle. These are the people who smile and laugh and sound totally agreeable, yet turn your back and they slice you up.

I bought a bike 23 years ago that had been in an accident. The couple were in the fast lane cruising at 70 when a crazy guy in a PU pulling a boat ran them into the center divider. Evidently the driver was pissed at some biker, couldn't catch him, so took out his frustration on a couple on an R100RT. The crash put the couple over the barrier into the opposite lane. The truck crashed, and his passenger was badly hurt. The driver of the motorhome following behind was so upset, he cancelled his two week vacation and went back home. In Oregon, the couple got their extensive medical bills paid by the state since it was deemed attempted murder - decided in court.

It's crazy out there. Be careful!

Surviving riding motorcycles requires us to think for lots of others...and thinking requires a cool head. Getting into a pissing contest with a knucklehead who is having a bad day is nearly certain to result in something negative. Keep your cool and break contact...

Pink stuff is spray paint. Used to mark where certain parts of the vehicle came to rest. That way, they can remove the wreckage and come back later to finish investigation of crash site.

Chunky pink stuff?

Oh man. Last weekend I was down visiting in-laws, and my brother-in-law (works at a tow company/body shop) wanted to show us a repoed F150 his boss was about to auction. It was parked next to a ball of metal that had been a Hyundai Elantra (which had gone head-to-head with a Grand Cherokee at a combined 120mph). There was a lot of chunky pink stuff—adipose tissue, according to my wife the trauma nurse—still in that ball of metal, and most of an ear on the dashboard.
