House arrest
« on: December 24, 2017, 09:30:42 AM »
Mother Nature has placed me on house arrest. With my bad legs I dare not risk going outside in the snow.
It is almost a sure thing I will fall. I used to love to get out and ride in the snow but now I can't even safely get to the garage.
Until this snow is gone I am under house arrest. Bummer!
 S'not Hawaii here.

Man, that's rough.  Now I don't feel so bad about being temporarily sidelined by strep.

Falls are rough on a guy or gal alright. even if I don't hit the ground, the circus acts I perform trying to catch myself hurt! then it takes so damn long to heal up.

Sorry to here that  SJ,  winter can be a challenge for us all and more so for some. My dad at 85 had a hard time trusting his footing in winter until I gave him a pair of old ski poles I had kicking around, best thing I could have done , his upper body was still strong but legs not so much  and it enabled him to get out to the mailbox and such without incident.  Hopefully we can all find ways to keep our sanity for the next few months.   Stay safe,   Dave

You might also try strap on fleets. They have another name but that eludes me. They do prevent slips and slides, but are a little unusual to get used to.
I can't imagine winters that far north, i can't stand winter in Joisey and so far it's been mild. Chin up.

Sounds like you need to begin work on your catapillar tracked snow chair.  Narrow enough to get out the door with deployable outriggers. That or get someone to wheel your arse to Corpus for the winter.... I know you will figure something out. You da 'Squatch!

Illinois.  Moved back.  Merry Christmas....Jimmy.  GianThomas is home for holidays.  We're working on the yard.  Cutting back the jungle.  Gotta clear the brush just in case, we set the yard on fire from New Year's fireworks.     Mauri says Aloha!

And Aloha to you and yours.  I miss going to the Kava bar for a cup of muddy water.
And all the girls that hang out there, and the Hula dancing troop that would come by about every two months.
And I can't get a good cup of coffee here.

I feel your pain Squatch. I suspect that when you are used to Hawaii Illinois ice and snow is a bit tough to take

Christmas day here and we are heading for 30 deg C. No ice and snow here!

That's a bummer Squatch, if it makes you feel any better, I went rippin' around on the KTM in the snow yesterday. Helen, my 83 YO neighbor called later on and asked me if I'd lost my mind, I replied "pretty much" Then she asked me over for a cocktail, she makes a pretty mean causation. (big Labowski content)

It's been pretty nippy here lately in Aridzona.  40s in the afternoon & high 20s at night.  But today and tomorrow it's mid 60s in the afternoon.   :thumb:  No snow yet this winter.  Merry Xmas to all.

Had an acetylene line on a torch leak gas into a leather welding shirt while the torch was off . When I struck the igniter the pooled acetylene went BOOF . My work partner had a very odd look on his face.

I used to make those from my cutting torch using both acetylene and oxygen and garbage bags.
 Awesome sound, no shrapnel.

I'm grounded too, Jim.  It's the first white Christmas on Whidbey Island since 2008.  Woopie.  :coffee:  I'm converting the emergency ark I was building on top of the hill into an emergency chalet.  As soon as I find the emergency hot buttered rum, I can have a proper snow day.

I haven't been out of the house in three days now. It was 3 degrees this morning, I counted them.
By the way, did any of you notice that she has a dimple where they removed her appendix?

John A and Jim,

I'm thankful I have good use of my legs. the Doc increased the amount I can lift to 15 lbs. He showed us the x-ray of the lag screws and the broken drill bit. I just have to be patient and let muscle and bones heal.

Mighty thankful just to be sucking air.
