snowed in again.
« on: January 15, 2018, 04:00:49 PM »
It snowed me in again last night.  I spent an hour and a half shoveling snow from my wheel chair.
 This sucks.

And I was just thinking as I filled the bird feeder.. "snow, beautiful snow."
I probably wouldn't feel that way if I was shoveling from a wheel chair.

 This sucks.

38,000 people moved out of Illinois last year.   Now you know why!   (The other reason is the Bears).

Doesn't sound fun Jim.  We have done some ADA remodels over the years and have had to install electric radiant heat under walkways.  I was skeptical at first but they work fantastic.  They also have walkway mats and stair tread mats that can be installed on top  . They have outdoor controls that monitor temp and just keep the surface above freezing when on.  The ones we installed were heat cables looped on a styrofoam sub base and then capped with 3inches of concrete with a broomed finish.  The first heavy snow fall I went back to see how they worked and I thought someone must have shoveled. They worked perfect and the owners have been real happy with them.  Just a thought. Good luck

I bought a Snow Joe 18" electric snow blower recently. It's like a walker. You shuffle along behind it. And just happens to clear crazy amounts of snow for you as you shuffle. I think I'm gonna like this tool. With both my shoulders torn up, lifting shovel fulls of heavy snow isn't my thing anymore.
yeah, I might be addicted to brake fluid. But I can stop any time I want.

Shuffling behind a snow blower doesn't do it for me.

Nothing more than a light dusting of snow here in Wichita, but the high for today is predicted to be only about 13F. Probably will not go out today.
