Fork Bottom Screw Size & Torque - V7 Stone
« on: January 16, 2018, 12:50:40 AM »
Okay...it’s winter and I can’t sleep, so I end up reading the manual...yes I am weird

But I just noticed, there are no torque spec given for these bolts yet they need to be tighten to “prescribed torque” according to the manual...

Not the pinch bolts but rather the bolts that keeps the inner bushings in place.

What size is it?!?!?!? And what torque is it?!?!?

Much ado about nothing, really..  You'll find out what size they are the first time you disassemble the forks. Then, just use a generic torque for that size bolt. It's not rocket science. <shrug>

Got burnt too many time by assuming thing :P

It's an aluminum crush washer (you can also get anywhere). Not sure if that makes a difference or not, but that's what is typically there.

You probly already know this but it bears repeating: don't overtighten the pinch bolts, its easy to break the fork leg there :Beating_A_Dead_Hors e_by_liviu

nothing isn't worth repeating except the same mistake...lol..

I read the force for those screws require the amount no more than sneezing...7 ftlb if I recall correctly

however, thanks for the reminder  :thumb:

In the factory service station manual for my v7 III, Kaifa forks, that bolt is shown to be torqued at 50 Nm (36.88 lbs-ft).

Oh sweet...

So it took them 3 generation to actually fix half of their manual eh...

Been checking the mailbox Timmy ?

Ya, nothing showed up yet...been going to mailbox daily...gonna give it another few days before I start calling and bitching...

They have a difficulty finding the mail boxes around my area due to "new yet not so new" postal code...

I always take torque settings in a Guzzi manual with a large shaker of salt. Even procedures may have been copied and pasted that don't apply. <shrug>
