6 and still coming down
« on: January 17, 2018, 01:54:02 PM »

Hey guys, sitting here and watching the accumulation increasing every hour. Im in central NC and werent suppose to get but a couple inches. We have 5-6 and still several hours of snow left to come. I got the Calvin switched over to open loop and have been struggling for the last month of sub freezing temperatures and now snow and cant ride it enough to get the fine tuning complete. I guess Ill get all the data needed when I take her in a 2k trip to the Keys next month to identify any issues. Yall be safe!

Same here in Virginia.   The shop heater is on and warming it up, I'm off for a few VERY much needed hours straightening the place up so I can work.   4 bike projects and one car, all ready to work on, a backpack blower to fix, I could work 40 hours a week for 6 months and not be done.

But that's why they call it "retirement".   No place I want to go, so let it snow!

It started snowing here around 4:00 am this morning. Of course I was on 3rd shift last night. When I started reporting weather and road conditions, my boss told me to find somewhere to park until quitting time at 6:00 am. A hemi Charger is not the ideal snow day vihicle!

Almost 4:30 pm here and still snowing lightly! Glad I don't have to go anywhere until Friday morning! Though I WAS going car shopping today and maybe tomorrow.

Thinking about an AWD Nissan Murano. Was shopping for a king cab Titan 4x4 but just couldn't find what I want at the price I want.

:1: Awesome cars in the snow. Nothing better. You don't even need dedicated snow tires. I am on my third Suby in 20 years. Love the torquey engines also. Probably pretty rare in NC. Maybe a few of them in Asheville?

Ours too, you seem to never even notice the snow.   I need a couple dozen sheet metal screws to finish a dolly for my water treatment chemical drum, I might just go out and get them ....

NCDAN- What route will you be taking when you head down to the Keys?  Will you stay on I-95 or I-75?  I live in Clearwater and would enjoy meeting you if you will be near the west (best) side of the state.  There are several of us in the Tampa Bay area that ride Guzzis, maybe we can have a get together.  If we get more than three will that count as a national rally?

I know.   Isn't much, really, and it'll melt in a couple days.   In Lake Effect Snow Country it wouldn't even be worth mentioning.   But in places with no snow removal equipment, it seems like a lot ....

Here in the South, we almost always start with sleet or freezing rain so we get that base of ice down before the snow. The next day, it starts melting on the roads and then refreezing at night. And we have all of the idiots that think that just because they can still get their cars up to 15mph above the speed limit, that's the way they should continue to drive.

And, even with ice under the snow, people in their big tough All Wheel Drive trucks and SUVS don't understand the basic equation -

4 x 0 = 0

and round and round they go, where they stop ... maybe against YOUR car ...

Glad you brought this up. Why does it put a ?(question mark) every time any type of punctuation is attempted ?

Hey Jerry. I’m ridding with a group who does this trip every year and have a fairly steadfast itinerary that for the most part is for the most part non negotiable if one wants to stay with the group. Thanks for the offer and I hope to get to go to a rally someday and meet some of your great guys, in person.
