First Ride of 2018
« on: February 28, 2018, 08:36:47 AM »
Put some miles on just a beautiful day to ride. Stopped at Gat Guns to make a purchase and do a little more riding. Expensive ride indeed. Now the rumor is more snow Thursday. So the plan is to wait for more rain to wash the salt off to be able to go ride again. 👍

Always good to get an off season ride in . Down here the period between the middle of June until early September it is normally too hot and humid to be fun riding , a nice day in July or August is reason to celebrate and go motorbiking .

I rode for the first time this year yesterday as well. The Convert is waiting for the resurfaced front rotors to return and the Morini's front brake has turned up mushy, so the old faithful Ambassador got to go. 254 miles of mostly backroad, down along the Shenandoah in VA, lunch in Strasburg, over into WV, back into western MD and home.

Ambassador waiting to go.

Old cider mill in Hillsboro, VA. "Burned by the Union in 1862" a sign read.

The new bridge across the Shenandoah on Morgan Ford Rd. is finally open to traffic.

NS freight train rolling south towards Front Royal

Good place to eat in Strasburg, VA.

Capon River near Yellow Springs, WV.

My usual stop: Town Hill on US40 Scenic, near Little Orleans, MD.

That's I-68 down below and off in the distance is the "cut" through Sideling Hill.

Town Hill B&B. My grandparents had their first date here.

Nice loop,I'm partial to the Strasburg hotel when I down that way. It has to be at least an overnight for me to go down there. Looking forward to another riding season.

Charlie:  You really plucked at my heartstrings with that post.  Some of my old riding grounds from when I lived in Boyds, MD.

Kicked the tires, lit the fires, and roared around a bit on the AeroLario.  Pretty unusual to have riding wx this time of year..  :thumb:
