Close call!  Glad you and the bike were mostly unscathed.  I had the pleasure of hitting a six-point buck whitetail on my Bandit with my wife on pillion at about 60mph.  The laws of physics intervened and I had to lay it down.   It just seemed to appear out of nowhere and I had enough time to mutter an obscenity as I panic-braked and slammed into it square in the gut.  Scary stuff!  Luckily, my wife and I were okay.  The gear saved us, for sure.  Wife was done riding after that!  It was just getting dark when it happened, about 5 miles from home, and it took me a while to be okay with riding after dark after that.
