...pipes [only photographs]
« on: March 30, 2018, 12:38:37 PM »
The Guzzi content might seem obscure with this one, but in all cases, there's a Guzzi nearby.

A topical note: If you are aware of a large pipe organ near you, between today (Friday) and Sunday you'll have your best chance of hearing it in action.

The really big ones at the bottom are on opposing sides of the church and pretty well envelop the listener--those are in Salisbury (Wiltshire) (church of England).  You can also see the Hallgrímskirkja pipes that are in the Reykjavik church of Iceland (Lutheran), which are some fifty feet tall.  Those will shake your body to its core; the most powerful pipes I think I've ever heard.

Is #3  OBU in SHawnee OK?

My alma mater.   I think you can get a minor degree in organ feet there.  There was little ol lady that could play that thing better than Hendrix.

30 years ago or more, I used to go to a pizza parlor in Seattle that had a huge one of those inside.
I alway tried to goshen it was being played.

No; I took this shot in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia:

However, it wouldn't be a surprise if the one you have in Shawnee, Oklahoma is related.  Worldwide, there aren't going to be too many companies doing this sort of work, and as much of Tallinn was devastated in an unbroken series of wars (before, during, and after our own time period for WW2) the pipes you see would have been relatively recent things.

Tallinn, Estonia:

Back in the early '70s I went to a concert at a church where the organist played Bach and some hippies did a light show to accompany him...it was pretty cool...the audience was a mixture of older folks in evening wear and youngsters in tie-dye and bell-bottoms...

Thanks for the pics, Daniel!
