97 Cali 1100EV Floorboards to Foot Pegs

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I am not a fan of heel-toe foot controls. Plus, I inherited this Cali and I don't care for the foot positioning. It's uncomfortable for me. I would like to remove the floorboards and go to foot pegs and standard single arm pedals for the shifter and brake as well. Similar to what is standard on the Audace. Any suggestions on accomplishing this (hopefully without replacing the frame rails) would be appreciated!

I like footpegs also but the heel toe shifter makes my life a lot easier with my ev and was a big help with my old 850T. The old  long throw and  multi neutral guzzi trans works a lot better for me with the heel toe. Just my two cents don't toss the floorboards in case you want to go back. The ev floorboards don't compromise my cornering abilities in the the way other cruisers I've owned did.

Sorry, but the frame rails must be swapped.  They have the lugs for mounting your whatevers, and depending on the placement of the whatevers, like kickstands and pegs, the lugs are different.   The easy way is to find someone with a peg setup you like that wants boards and swap the entire business.

The problem with the floorboards is that to upshift the rider had to use his heel shifter because there is no leverage to upshift with the toe.

Personally, I like the arrangement but I know riders that don't like it, nor the peg on the brake side.  Usually I keep my toes on the back of the floorboard and lean my heels against the passenger's peg.  Then when I upshift, I stub the heel shifter with my big toe.   I like the brake side peg too, I get leverage and my feet are equal when I put my foot flat on the heel/toe shifter to downshift.

Anyway, the OP should be able to convert to pegs since many Cali models have them.

Thanks for the thoughts! I have been on the hunt for someone looking to convert from pegs to floorboards on a Tonti frame, but so far, no dice. LowRyter I may look at adapting your method to see if that works.

There is always someone looking to change.  Put an offer to swap on the swap meet board and do a topic asking for swaps in this forum.  If you're lucky, someone will come to you or you go to them and help each other do the deed.  It would be a fun day.

Although most bikes are understandably peg equipped, I prefer floorboards.  I don't have any strength going upward with my toes, so upshifting with pegs can be a random thing.  Stomping either with my toe (downshift) or heel (upshift) can be managed with other muscles -- I don't need my toes.  Also, my toes tend to point sharply downward with pegs, which has torn up the toes of my boots.  And, as others have said, you get better brake leverage and more places to put your feet with boards and they hide that ugly kickstand.

I'm not a fan of floorboards either but that is how my '03 California EV came from the factory.  A search on ebay found a seller with frame rails and pegs.  It was almost $300 all in.  Allow a few hours to do the swap over to pegs.  FYI, you must support the motor with a scissor jack or something similar when you remove the frame rails.  The center stand didn't interfere with the change. 

As suggested I looked around for someone willing to swap out, but there wasn't anyone wanting to go from pegs to floorboards so I just packed mine away for future use or sell to someone that may want them.  Also, I ended up removing the heel section of the heel toe shift lever.  No adjustments to the heim joints on either the shifter or brake lever were required.

I would keep the parts you remove, you might just decide you like them after all.
I like that I am able to move my feet around some, instead of locked into one position
