Solvang Motorcycle Museum
« on: April 08, 2018, 07:00:32 PM »
I had  a very enjoyable visit at the Solvang Motorcycle Museum on Friday, it has been on my bucket list for a long time and in a word, FANTASTIC!

http://www.motosolvang.com/

Some rare and gorgeous Moto Guzzi's on display including a reproduction 8 cylinder GP bike, just like the one in Mandelo.

There are too many amazing motorcycles to list, and so many that I have only seen pictures of, to see them in real life is amazing.

I'm glad it's worthwhile. I've been through Solvang several times, but never managed to be there when it was open and when I had time to visit.  Will make a point of going soon.

I met up with JJ and some Norcal guys a few years back, and Solvang was on the list of stuff to do.  :thumb: Not only a V8, but a bicylindricia (sp?) and others. Scud.. you're missing it..

Dang-

I lived in Lompoc for 3 yrs, 10 mi away. Museum didn't exist then. I always said if I had all the money I needed, that central valley right there is where I'd live.

I could very happily retire in the area and spend my days volunteering to help maintain the collection just to hear some of the race bikes run. I was told by the lady tending the museum that 96 of the 100+ bikes on display run and are taken out and ridden on occasion.

Hailwoods Honda or Agostini's MV must scream in anger as the throttle is blipped.
