I actually felt myself getting stupider by the moment as I read it. God help us if this is the sort of dweebish, mentally deficient enclosure Guzzisti are being shepherded into.

It's a nice article that does a good job of describing Guzzi's possibly biggest marketing asset - who they are, they were and how that relates to their product.  However wherever I read that ''things have improved under Piaggio" I feel a sense of sadness for the people of Mandello who lost management control of the company and their homegrown product to a one-time competitor, and in the present have an almost silent Piaggio assembly plant and their history.

There were about three times as many people working in Mandello twenty years ago, designing motorcycles and making motorcycle parts, not just assembling designs and parts created by others.  With worldwide communication and awareness & visitors to the factory at an all time high, I think it's not ideal having to wax philosophical about what once was, the (wonderful) museum and how you still have the shell of a factory employing about 100 people.

I can't stand chai and skinny jeans would just be silly on me, but I enjoyed the article.  It's going to rain most of the day here in SW Ohio and it went pretty well with my dark coffee and fried eggs.  It is a little sad to  know that the company does not employ as many townsfolk as they used to but that's modern manufacturing anywhere in the world.  Riding that area is on my bucket list so it's always nice to read about.
