I'm in New Haven, Ct for the week, for work. Are there any notable cycle shops or things to do? I don't want to miss a local treasure that doesn't show up in google seach, etc.

Hamlin's is a great place to visit. He a friend of both KOF and me. built both of our V7's.

You might be interested to see the Nautilus Submarine museum in Groton. Also, North of Hamlin's in Kent CT is the Connecticut Antique Machinery Museum which coincidentally will be firing up the boilers and showing off the factory steam engines this coming weekend (also the saw mill, the make-and-break well pumps, the big diesel, the forge...)

There's also the New England air museum in Windsor Locks Connecticut that's at the main airport which is Bradley Airport, it's on the northwest side over by the control tower, it's off of Route 75 North which is off of Route 20 at the Bradley Field area ,excellent excellent airplanes to view you can also find it on the website NEAM Windsor Locks Connecticut

Joe, I can readily 2nd all the above. Jim Hamlin put together nearly all I asked for; turning a V7III Racer into a more comfy, reliable and when the paint dries, better looking V7 III, in my ever so humble opinion. Hope to flash it on you late in May, if schedule holds up. R3~

Funny how everyone is suggesting to leave New Haven....Since your in New Haven...walk. Take the walking tour of Yale...it is a small city, or better yet, rent one of the public bicycles

Not to be missed architecture....the Beinecke library is stunning....
Yale Museum of Art
Peabody museum ....Bones and Beer, may 3, 6pm, adult only, that looks cool
British museum of art
Just walk Chapel Street away from the green
On the green, three historical churches from the 1600's

New Haven has remade itself as a nightlife city, drawing from all the neighboring towns....the food is amazing and widely diverse...nite clubs everywhere...

At the retail shops at Broadway, Apple Store, Patagonia, north face, all the preppy high end

2 blocks north of there, new haven Powersports with a few guzzi, Aprilla, Kawa, suki

West Rock and East Rock for summit parks overlooking the city, East Rock only with a car. Sleeping Giant just outside of town.

On a warm spring night just stroll Chapel Street, it's a college town

What a great response! Unfortunately I'm leaving Sat, and working every day, which is a limit (I'll see if work will understand that they're interfering w my recreation).

Wheaties - sub and antique machinery museums are both good ideas. Talking about both reminds me of that missing Argentine sub that went down a few months ago. One issue is that it was a "vintage" British boat.

Tomb - thumbs up on the air museum. I went to it a few years ago when I lived in Western Mass.

R3 - Where are you out of? Your profile says "Mass". Is Hamlin the closest dealer for you?

Chuck - What local knowledge! I'm following your advice and getting some dollars oysters tonight in New Haven.

Hope to see all in a bit, when I'm on two wheels.

Went to Pepe's two days ago. Great pizza! I give them credit; half of the restaurant is taken up by the kitchen, and I've never seen a pizza oven so deep. Eight, ten feet? or more.

As Chuck said, New Haven Powersports is in New Haven, and sells Guzzi, Italian scooters, and in the past I've seen couple of Gileras in there.

As far as PIZZA and BEER, my preference hands-down is Bar Pizza and the Bru Room:

Their pizza is WAAAY underrated being so close to Pepes and Sallys, but it's the best, and the wait is shorter and parking easier. PLUS, it's a brew-pub and classic laid-back college bar with the most beautiful roster of servers I've ever seen. I find myself stammering to place an order in the presence of such youthful beauty. I don't think Sallys or Pepes offer mashed potatoes on their 'za, either.

Holy Crap! Here's proof of age related disabilities. Between 1967 and 82 I spent much of my time in New Haven. Loved it all. Had a close friend, then and now, who showed me all the best restaurants, historic sites; as in the original burger joint (Maury's?) and The Skull & Bones. The Bieneke Library is best visited on a sunny day. Or have you seen marble walls w/the sun shining through; and a Gutenberg Bible. A Noguchi landscape is in the same building, iirc. New Haven is likely still an early try-out location for Broadway shows.
Are you aware the original Frizbee was founded in New Haven. On the Green! Local pie tins.
I must go back. New Haven has restored itself. How nice is that?

like Chuck stated, there are lots of great places to see and lots of great eats in New Haven.

You definitely need you include a midnight burger at Louis' lunch. The birthplace of the hamburger.

Also, while it’s not a Guzzi dealer, Libby’s Moto World is also fun for a visit. It’s NOT in a nice or appealing area. But it’s a pretty large multi-bike dealer, and it’s a long-time CT family business. I got my Bonneville T100 from George Libby, who bought the business from his Dad, and now his kids work there, too. Here’s the Bonnie with her sister, Storny:

Just a fun place for some bike ogling...and Libby’s Triumph selection is pretty healthy, in addition to a ton of Hondas, Yamahas, and more...

I second/third Hamlin’s. Jim Hamlin is the man. Bought my Storny there. And the guys there are great, too. If you go, have lunch across the street at the Sycamore Diner. Try a Dagwood burger, and have their home made root beer. Place is awesome.

The years go by so fast, that might have been 5 yrs ago now. I would imagine if you stopped in and asked the owner of the nice old Retriever snoozing there, they could tell you what it was, if there isn't one there now.

I met up with Joe for dinner at Dar Bar Indian restaurant in Branford last night.

Great guy (after all he does own a V7), good food (Lamb Curry & Mali Kafta) and good conversations.

Hopefully we can do it again before he leaves.

It appears we have been to several events and places (i.e the Vanilla Bean cafe) just not at the same time.

I noticed last week that there's no mention of Guzzi on their website anymore, so they may have given up the franchise....
