for those that are interested this is my 850 lemans from a recent north carolina motorsports park race with AHRMA in the vintage superbike heavyweight class, good enough for 2nd place. I was cathcing the leader but the race was shortened because of delays. Of course catching is different from passing.

its mostly against large four cylinders, some smaller 690/900, there's a nice CBX that races that class, so they have lots of power but then there are those corners! :-)

Why is it called North Carolina Motorsports Park if it's in Kershaw South Carolina?

yes its surprising how much power those modern water cooled singles can generate, it didn't have the top end but plenty of acceleration and corner speed

You appear to know the track well. I really enjoyed the flow leading to the straight beginning at 6:13minutes.
The safety vests indicate new racers? Are they worn for a couple races or a season? Must feel like airbrakes.
Please post more videos as your season progresses. And, congratulations on a well run race.

Nice race, would love try racing at some point. What are the rules for the bikes, are you allowed to run modern tire sizes? It looks like that triumph has some quite wide tires on. How much are you allowed to change? Wheels, brakes, forks?

my bike is stock bore/stroke, a B10 cam, 40mm carbs, custom exhaust. The changes you can make depend on the class, there are stock classes, formula classes and, the one I run is superbike which allows significant changes within limits. For example my forks are 40mm from a california and I run 17 inch rims so yes, I can run modern rubber, although the guzzi swing arm is quite restrictive. I also have frame bracing to help the stability. Its great fun as long as you dont get too serious and its a very helpful and friendly organisation. Although when you are out on track those devils on your shoulder are always egging you on!

That sounds exactly like the kind of racing I would like to do, I would not do it for the sake of winning MotoGP or any other Moto for what matters. Only for my own enjoyment and to have fun with building the bike for it. Sounds like great fun [emoji4]

Yeah, I'd think it would be a lot of fun as long as the old competitive spirit didn't kick in too hard.

How fast did you get up to in the straights? Loved the rumble as it kept pulling and gaining speed.

Yes you are right about the dragging, it's my toe sliders that are dragging the pan was too but it is fiberglass do no sparking. The exhaust was the biggest challenge. I pushed up the pegs and raised the seat, there is a limit to my flexibility though!,😂. You can see the pieces of wood under the seat in the other photo, it's All the little details that count!!
