Great pictures. Cows are not the brightest animal on earth but they are curious. However, don't let them think you are threatening their calves or you may regret it.
By the way Twowings, cows can range between 1,200 and 2,000 pounds.

Gauging from the bush clad hills, I would guess that the second photo is a herd of new Zealand Jerseys. Correct?

Well done.  I think I took that somewhere north of Fox Glacier (and south of Hokitika) along SH-6 on the South Island.

Here's a genuine Jersey.  The folks on the Island of Jersey are quite particular about their namesake cattle.

I have encountered all manor of critters on the road, from wayward coyotes to rather startled bears but the ones that give me the most pause are these:

Most of the time they mind there own business but if they decide to get testy they can get to be a real problem and for as big as they are, they can move a lot faster than you might think.  In a dispute between a motorcycle and a buffalo, the buffalo always wins.

Udderly conflicted... I find cows to be somewhat adorable in their own way, but also quite delicious, when prepared with a modicum of skill and attention.

Great pics as always Daniel. Thank you.  :thumb:
