New Still in Crate 850-T5

I almost missed this on eBay. Thought I'd post it here in case someone was looking for a NOS Guzzi!

The SCAM radiation pouring off of that listing almost gave me a sunburn through my computer ...

I don't know.  Almost hard to trust eBay's "security" these days - some pretty bad actors get through.

"Brand new in the crate" 850 T-5.   Just a sales brochure in the "photo", not even a picture of the crate, no story of where this thing has been for 31 years.   I've got crap in "crates" that's not worth hauling to the landfill (I've also got a lot of "barn fresh" junk that I've got to deal with someday).

Either a scam or the worst selling job for a nice bike in history.

Really??

No information on the bikes,

no pictures of the crate,

nothing.

I didn't realize that sellers can get feedback for selling AND buying.  (I went and looked at some sites which talked about ebay scams)

If you follow this guy's Feedback Profile link on the 159 Stars (100% positive feedback) found in the upper right corner:
You'll see that 0 of that feedback is from selling.  At least that's how I read the Feedback as a Seller tab.  If you click on the Feedback as a Buyer tab, you'll see 181 entries.  So all this dude's feedback is from buying not selling.

He has purchased stuff from Lamontsanfurd, orphan motors, guzzitech, and BSAnut, and those guys are legit, even if the posting is not.....  Perhaps they could verify the ads, assuming anyone wanted a bike at those prices......

I asked the seller if he could any addl info, or pic of the crate; I said there wasn't enough in his description to warrant bidding on it, after 4 days still no response.
If one was planning a scam, why pick an 850 T5?

The Bimota YB6 Tuatara he has for sale is using photos of the same bike that is listed in Sheffield, UK.

https://motorcycles-for-sale.biz/sale.php?id=45071

And the photo of the Bimota Virginio Ferrari is from the Bimota Spirit website.  Not to mention that the original YB4-R uses an FZ750 motor, not a 1000cc one.

https://www.bimotaspirit.com/bimota-yb4r-ferrari

So, yeah, I'd say fraudulent postings.

Don't know either, but they can spoof eBay and eBay can't do anything about it, apparently.

About 23+/- years ago. A houston auto auction bought approximately 25 Crated Triumph's from the 50's thru late 70's.
The owner of the auto auction had a ridiculous motorcycle collection. He had at least 100 bikes on site. English , japanese , Italian etc. I was looking at a Honda 305. He told me he bought the whole collection for 3 bikes. He paid about $40K  for the collection.  Stubbs Harley/Honda/Suzuki had an XR1000 and A Suz 750 Water Buffalo in crates up to 10 years ago. It doesn't seem to be out of the realm of possibility.

Saw this in crate bike in Warm Springs, GA in 2013.  I heard the owner of this museum sold everything and closed.  He had a lot of collectible motorcycles.  Even a Moto Guzzi or two.

Pretty good deal here in GA

https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/mcy/d/2014-moto-guzzi-california/6644892973.html

That is probably a scam too.

It is also listed in Indiana for the same price.
