OH no. Our secret is out!

Beautiful shots. Always nice to see it through someone else's eyes.

If you come again Daniel you will have to find the time to get to Golden Bay, right at the top of the South Island. 56kms  from Motueka and you have to go over a 25km hill :thumb: to get there but it is a slice of Paradise. A Dutch guy I convinced to call in on his trip around NZ said it was the highlight of his trip.

Especially as the area around Nelson seems to hog the South Island's sunshine.

By the way, Jeroen and his V50 NATO turned up at the Ragged Fringe last weekend -  he's back in Sydney, apparently found a female interest. Happens to the best of us.

Thanks, Daniel, for the scenic reminders. A magic place.

Those are beautiful pictures of a beautiful country.  We haven't gotten to the South island yet and we've obviously been missing a lot.

I may be biased :undecided: but I think the South Island beats the North Island overall.  I usually recommend a two to one ratio when visiting NZ and those I have talked to seem to agree.

Roy may disagree of course.

I may be biased, but...

If you're an outsider (as I was) it can be fun to engage one of the locals about their views of the opposite island.  It isn't just which is the more attractive, but, you'll hear some things about the sorts of people that live on the other island.

Of course, the real case is that both islands are beautiful and the people who live there are wonderful no matter which island you're on.  If you can only visit one, just flip a coin--either is worthwhile.  Actually, if the choice is to rush about in order to visit both islands versus taking your time to visit just one, I'd go for the slower trip and the coin-flip.

We've got friends currently on the North Island so that's where we headed; thoroughly enjoyed it.  They lived in the Hamilton area originally but they're in the Coromandel now.  We've had a couple good visits poking all over the North Island and plan to head South next time we're there.

I personally love the route down the West Coast of the South Island and through the Haast Pass. Very rugged and scenic. Fantastic on a bike. :thumb:
