Yeah, I've been acting since 1997 and have been in something like 60 different productions, mostly Shakespeare and Irish theater. What do you have in mind?

Before we go any farther, how far away from Cedar Vale KS are you?

A reenactment of the early days of Guzzi?  Complete with Brontosaurus or the extra sporty Velociraptor?  ;)

Was just thinking about a live performance in the 100 year old pavilion might be fun. Thinking maybe we could sell a few tickets to the locals.  This is just the seed of an idea at the moment.

Kansas? Maybe do Wizard of Oz, or maybe Little House on the Prairie?
Used to be a playhouse in the town I live in, long ago.
Local talent, very popular with the town people.
Until someone thought it was a good idea to knock it down to put stores there.

I had a lady come up to me and she said, "you remind me of a movie star".
I got all excited and I said "who." She said, "Lassie taking a shit.""

I was in Idaho once, having dinner at some greasy spoon with my son.  The waitresses were flirting with him, and he tried to deflect the attention by telling them I was a famous actor travelling incognito.  I played along until one of them proudly announced that she knew who I was.  To prove it, she found a picture on the internet -- of Tommy Chong.   :embarrassed:

Dusty.. you're losing it pal. Sorry, but that's just MHO. Sure, you *might* sell a few tix to the locals, but I've been there. I don't think it would be an SRO performance from the locals at even 5 bux a head. Sell more bike raffle tickets to help out the town. :undecided:

Some food for thought:

It is nearly impossible to do a decent live performance without rehearsals, and that would mean getting your actors there at least a few days ahead. Even if you round up a cast willing to donate time and expenses, you’ll need an experienced director to whip it into shape. Scripts are copyrighted, and you have to pay to play. There are other details to consider like lighting, costumes, makeup and props if you want to put on a good enough show to justify charging people for tickets.

Is there a local theater group — community, school, church, etc. — that might be willing to schedule and perform a play there for a split of the proceeds? If not, maybe a musician or comedian, even a motorcycle-themed movie night?

Maybe I’m overthinking it, and where there is a will there is a way. My only point is that doing it right might not be as simple as you think, and doing it badly might backfire as a fundraiser.

Most of the people who come to a Guzzi rally have a sense of humor and enjoy laughing at our own BS. Charging civilians for the privilege is a taller order. All IMHO, and unsolicited at that.

I worked in the theater department in college, but I think they just needed someone who could weld...

Maybe a talent show would work better. That way, individuals can rehearse on their own. There's a bunch of us that play music, who are good at telling jokes, or who can juggle (okay, maybe not juggling).

Might start with a screening of On Any Sunday and just invite the town in for free for some good will.  See how many show.  Not like there is lots to do on Saturday evening there.
