I grew up on the Z900 series, and always lusted after a Lawson Replica. A beautiful bike in its day  :thumb:

OH the replicas are out there (cheap too!) but this is the real deal from the early 80's

It's not clear to me what this is but if the owner thinks it's worth that huge amount of money, I think he'd better lay out some details.

In late '83 during the period when I wanted a V45 Interceptor but they had sold out of the initial batch, I tried an ELR just for comparison.  I wasn't greatly impressed, it felt big, loose and unrefined to me, so I found a slightly used Interceptor and rode it 55K miles.

Not sure what "South African " model even means,  every Kawasaki dealer in America had ELR's on the floor. Seller is full of loop.

My son had an '82, in 1986-7, iirc. OMG. I took it for a late night ~5 mile loop; mostly on an interstate. He then ran the same route to benefit my aural senses. He restored it spec. A fellow in Japan sent a truck w/crate for it. R3~

Without doing the research of the VIN and Engine numbers it's anybody's guess. Although it looks legit who knows, My buddy has a white 750 Built in 1981 in England and was ridden several years as a suspension mule. They were built in several countries including So. Africa, Japan,Taiwan,England and Spain probably for tax reasons. There was one sold back in 2014 with a serial number  000005 for about $15,000 US so I don't know about that much appreciation in value

I don't get it.  Is it one of those production commemorative bikes, worth maybe $8k?   Or is he saying it's a Lawson racebike that's been converted for street which make no sense.   What does he mean when he says only two exist?

I guess if we had a Kawasaki expert here,we'd know.  For $115k, it makes me wonder.

I seriously doubt it is an ex -Lawson race bike.  The seller is fishing.

I asked the seller a coupla questions; the bike is a modded stock ELR. It has no provenance. He has no interest in sharing details. It is thus priced 10+ times what it is worth; mint stockers are worth maybe $15-20K.
