From a looks standpoint, I think they definitely drove a couple runs in with these two!

I wondered why they don't do a 17" front also. Norton themselves make the engine, it is half of their V4 engine. There was a article about them in a magazine i read last year. I forgot which one of course. Either Fast Bikes or Classic bike. Both UK magazines.

Hah, all falling for the smoke and mirrors Garner approach, 10k uk pounds, a v7 3 is 8k and more likely to be a useable bike. Look on fleabay, 961's at seriously knock down prices with no miles, ask yourself why. These 650'sare I believe Chinese, imho it's all a con trick, hopefully I'm wrong, if not remember where you heard it

Yup- no problem making that choice.  My 68 P11A is one of the only bikes I actually regret ever selling.

I’m glad about the 18” front wheel. My Vintage uses that size, too. Perhaps a wider variety of tire offerings will come out of this.

Gorgeous bike... but not for me. Riding position aside, I don't think I'd care for that 11k peak rpm figure. It suggests something that would rev more than I'd want.

"Just to clarify (and I have no idea where these things start!) but we have never even spoken to anyone in Korea or KYMCO! The engine was designed in its entirety by my team here at Norton. The engine is licensed to Zongshen and parts for the motor are from a global supply chain, which is nature of the beast in 2018 when you are chasing quality. Engines are assembled here at Norton, just like EVERY engine we have ever made, 961, V4 and 650. Its a super engine and was conceived at the same time as the V4 but the engineering started in earnest a little later.

The V4 also bears almost no resemblance to the Aprilia, we used that in racing but from an engineering point of view they are both V4's and that's where the similarity ends. The V4 was a ground up design using latest engineering practices and again done by our team here at Norton."

Are these coming to the US?  I think I read these are for the UK and Europe only...

Judging from the number of people who like these styles of bikes (and who weren't even alive when they first were built) I don't agree with your first hypothesis.

Judging from how friggin ugly the Breva and a lot of modern bikes (most BMWs, a large percentage of JAPanInc., KTM, etc.) are I hope we don't get back to designing more things like that anytime soon. Well, I don't begrudge their existence, I just hope there are always choices with better flowing and more traditional looking aesthetics. You know, that showcase the MOTOR in the cycle, along with the basic parts (fuel tank, headlight, fenders). I have always liked and probably will always like softer, less angular, flowing lines in a design. I don't think that's generational.

  The only retro thing about the the  Nortons in this thread is the trade name..The engine, a true focal point on old Brits, is just busy looking modern piece, nothing wrong with that of course...They look like many other modern naked frame bikes...The 961 Norton mentioned above does have a resemblance to the old Commando...
  With 84 HP they will blow by any classic Brit bike and likely be smoother with better brakes.... In my opinion, the 93 Ducati Monster started a naked frame bike trend that's still going strong today. I prefer minimalist lighter weight  machines, a rider wearing animal skins clinging to metal tubing powered by an internal combustion engine...Grab em while you can boys before they are outlawed and we are left to ride silent smooth electric bikes...

I'll take the new one providing they have upped the quality. The 961s spend most of their time at the dealers getting fixed. One vintage brit bike is plenty for me. Give me modern brakes and suspension any day.

It's been shown time and time again pricing in Europe does not reflect price in US, see Moto Guzzi prices if your confused.
I can understand not appreciating their looks, but ripping on it because it doesn't come with a17" front wheel???   Both are aimed at ridding at least a little off road, why would they have a 17"??   And I'm sure if they came with 17, the knock would be why no 18/19"?

I personally think the 750 Breva looks neat. Not so fussed on the 1100.
