V11 Sport gearbox house with a crack
« on: November 21, 2018, 04:09:31 AM »
I have repaired several of these gearboxes. Coming mainly from the early 2000 - 2002 models.

My repairs is to replace the main (front) house with a new one. To do this you need at lest 1 special tool to loosen the clutch boss in front of the gearbox.

I have 2 brand new gearbox houses available + the special tool for the clutch boss and also 2 special tools for the peg nuts inside the gearbox. These last 2 is not necessary to loosen - but nice to have. There is also a clutch centering tool.

Take contact if you are interested. Either I can perform the gearbox repair here at my home in Norway - or you can get someone close to you to perform the job.

The winter is a great time to get these jobs done.

I've been through it and don't know how long my repair might last.

here's an entire series about it.  They guy that fixed my bike also fabricated a transmission brace kit similar to the factory one (no loner available).  It's important to brace the transmission on the red frame bikes.

if you have an extra transmission case, I would be interested to purchase it, just in case.

Hello

Yes I have a front gearbox house for sale. It is painted black an comes from the 2003-2005 models. Article number 01200290

The reason why the early houses cracked - might come from 3 causes:

1 - Bad aluminum

2 - Not perfect casting process

3 - The corner radius was too small.

Whatever the reason, I have not seen or heard of any cracks in the later 2003-2005 V11 Sport models.

Send me a PM and we can continue from there.

Rolf, the frames have different transmission mounts on the redframes vs blackframes.  The redframes need that brace.

here's the one that Don made up (painted red).  You can read all about it on the thread I posted.

As John says, it's the red frame (early) Sports that are at risk. If I had one, I'd be putting a brace on it. Guzzi beefed up the transmission mounts in 02.
