I was slightly shocked to see the state of the pistons in the front brake callipers on my 2008 Griso 8v when I changed the pads the other day. There's quite serious corrosion on two pistons on each side, and some corrosion on all of them. I've cleaned it up as best I can, and with some lubricant the seals are holding. For now.
I've ordered some pistons and seals - I think I may as well do the whole lot.
What is surprising me is that when I last changed the pads, which can't have been that long ago, the pistons looked fine. Any thoughts on why I suddenly have this level of corrosion? The bike is used all year round, and has about 55k miles on it. The roads in London get salted in the winter sometimes, but I don't recall last winter being any worse than usual.
