Clutch/ring gear retaining bolts question

The bolts on the ring gear/clutch outer plate look like M8 bolts on a 98 EV but on my  03 V11 sport they are M6 allen socket bolts. I wonder why the difference?
It seems on a more powerful higher revving engine would be the stronger bolts.

Smaller bolts so to have less rotating mass? Or because the assembly is lighter, less strong bolts are needed? Or Both?

Also another question. I have new schnoor washers for the M6 bolts so should I also use medium blue loctite on them also? There was none on those bolts but there was on the flywheel/crankshaft bolts.

Less rotating mass I'd guess. I always use a drop of 243 on them but having said that I've never had one come loose, 6mm or 8mm, in forty years. :grin:
