time to bump this one up:  I'm retired now, so no excuse for not making it.  Only 89 miles from Dunlap.  It will be a nice ride on the Griso.

That would be great!  Congratulations on retirement and Guzzisteve from this site, said he might come with a couple of other riders too.  Hopefully more decide to come out and join us.

I have a sister in Dunlap.  East side of the valley.

bobrebos, I would love to meet up with you guys, but it seems like I am always away on a work trip when you plan these get togethers.  Maybe one of these times.

I'm about 4 hours from Cleveland so I would definitely make a weekend of it and head up towards the Smokeys if the timing ever works out.

The plan is just a meet up for lunch and sit around And gab for a while.  Trying to do these at different locations once per month.  There are a couple of picnic benches along the river, where you can sit and visit.  History has it that some people stay and gab and some don’t.  It’s just a meet and greet but people do stay for a couple-three hours sometime....I would like to see it last for three-four hours, but everyone is in such a hurry these days????   Bob

I used to run up from Newnan to the top of Ga 400, ride the good roads on up to Tellico Plains, ride the Cherahola, then go on back to Newnan. Great day 550+ miles and doable. Now with the traffic getting back through Atlanta, I will have to pick transit times better and probably camp /stay and make it a a 2-3 day run. Old(er) age and ‘progress’. Told my wife I was gonna plan a run up, but I’m going to overnight somewhere. Any favorite stays or plans from anyone? Guzzi Steve?

Hey Dr, I would just go south to TWO and hang there overnight, always some folks on the porch. If not open camping is honor sys, put $ in the box for Bill. I used to run back roads w/I worked at the dealer in Fairburn, easier on the nerves.

Off the subject but not too far off...My wife, son and I are heading to the North Georgia mountains next month, staying in Dahlonega and riding as weather permits.  If any of you have recommendations for roads and sights we shouldn't miss in the area, I would be grateful for them.  We love the off beat and off the tourist-track stuff, and so getting some information from people familiar with the area would be awesome! (Also because she has made all the reservations for our stay and left day-trip planning to me...and I have done nothing as yet :boozing:

Pavement or gravel?

BTW, if you have not already done these, Just outside Georgia, do the Cherohalla Skyway (Tellico Plains), to near Deals Gap(a mess of squids on weekends). And Wheels Through Time(Maggie Valley). Helen Georgia(tourist trap)
I can dig up some maps of roads only near Dahlonega ride, mostly paved,

There might be some decent Airbnb up near Tellico, and there are some nice places along the river there
Lots of good roads there beside the skyway and dragon.

The morning low is the real problem.  Dunlap's forecasting 26 degrees!  Yeow!  That will have to change a bit to get me to suit up.

I’m trying to set these up at different locations, monthly, so maybe you can make a future one.  Here’s hoping for decent weather on the 2nd of March!
