very sharp. I cant tell, is the leather strap and seat black or brown? also, what is the point of the the steering yoke guard? is it just a fancy key chain scratch protector?

With right side up forks -- even a dummy like me can  respring, emulate and change the oil to what fits my weight.   Because I haven't seen 145 lbs since 1968

I hear ya....but disagree, you have to show some kind of part on that bike that actually looks high performance. Poser stripes, number plates, suede seats arent enough :-)

I like how MG can make this sounds so special ... it is just a 2017 Racer with slightly different colors.  I do like the scheme but it would have better if built upon the V85 platform.

You're right. Better front suspension (K-Tech), and what 'sounds' like it may be my "Hamlin ' upgrade to the front brake and master cylinder; done at the dealer. A few other cosmetic changes and adjustments and that little porker is not a bad motorcycle. Don't ride over 30 m/h after dark. The headlight sucks.  R3~

Hides the standard handlebar holes.

I am guessing this revamp is in reaction to Ducatis restyled cafe racer. You can picture the scene in the Piaggio boardroom, "the Stornello sold well, let's use those colors......"  I do like the look, but the Ducati has a lot more power.

The cynic in me just says this is another case of Bold New Graphics, though it's certainly pretty.  C'mon, Guzzi, what else can you do with the new V85?

More power.  Typical US response.  Where I live more power doesnt make you any faster in the curves.  Faster on the straights just puts you in jail if caught. 

That said, if i were to buy a Ducati,  the scrambler cafe would be the bike since the desert sled would get me in trouble.

Contrary to popular belief you of all people should know that I don't disagree JUST to be argumentative.

But my disagreement in this case is with the attitude that everything needs more hp, less weight, cost less, etc.

That every manufacturer needs to come out with a new motor, new chassis, etc. every single year.

That there's something wrong with "BNG" - for gawd's sake, of course it's just a paint job, where was anyone trying to suggest it was something more.

But to that end if someone didn't like the looks of the previous version(s) this could be a game changer. Hell, who knows, Jenn really likes the red frames, but didn't like the look of the Stornello or Racer previously, but had THIS been on the floor next to the Carbon, this might have been enough to woo her.

It's one of the only Racers I would have ever considered for the same reason.

Now that said, I agree a V85-based Racer could be the perfect next generation for the Racer and I agree they should go that direction - if there's ONE model of the V7 line that "needs" more power and an even better chassis it should be the Racer. I think USD forks, dual discs, and more hp sound like what the Racer looks and name always promised, so that would make a lot of sense.

But the time isn't right for that. They are just rolling out the V85, and it would be stupid to take away from that in any way yet.

And if a company really "needs" a NEW bla bla bla - every year - then next year maybe it will be a V85 Racer or better yet Lemans.

That doesn't detract from this being a great V7 variant.
