Delivery bikes?

I’m curious, in my travels abroad I often see small delivery bikes delivering pizza, sandwiches or whatever.  But I don’t think, out side of Boston seeing and moto deliveries.  What have you seen?

I don't think any of the OEM delivery bikes are sold here. Honda has a CG125 or 150 with delivery stuff that sells in Mexico.

You can find the accessories on line, especially for scooters.

Interesting that when we talk about new bikes, some of them "not available here", or maybe electric bikes, or small-mid-sized bikes, that Honda and Bajaj and Mahindra sell literally millions upon millions of them throughout the world, and we don't use any of them here.   

We just apparently don't have a use for delivery bikes, or dispatch bikes, or little commuter bikes, and the rest of the world has a huge appetite for them.  Maybe that will change, but I doubt it.

Cars are cheaper than motorcycles in the US.  I could find 60-70 running cars on VT CL right now for $500 that could be put on the road.  I doubt I’d find a half dozen street bikes that were roadworthy for the same money.  Either the car or bike would be a heap but the point is cars are cheap, plentiful, you don’t get rained on and you don’t get cold.

I think this forum is largely rural-delivery doesn't make sense on a bike when the distances are large and maybe temperatures are cold. I do see some scooters in the "hip" towns with pizza delivery boxes but they are just private owners who like the cargo capacity.

Must be some in NYC or even Boston. I think Boston and vicinity may have bicycle delivery.

Most delivery two wheel delivery bikes are electric in NYC with custom fabricated backpacks for the riders. Large square backpack for pizza delivery are the norm. No longer do I see small Japanese,etc. scooters for delivery as they require licensing,insurance,gasoline,etc.

Yep! Electric pedal bikes have totally replaced scooters for delivery duties in NYC....  Just as fast (in city traffic), can (not supposed to but can) traverse sidewalks & crosswalks, cheaper, quieter, no gas, no oil changes, and easy to bring inside for security.

 We have a couple of small scooters being employed here in Muskogee as delivery vehicles , didn't think it was all that unusual .

I can certainly see the attraction of an e-bike-my wife's is as fast as a moped, can be/is stored in the house, and if you are mechanically inclined at all you can buy a nice kit and convert your existing bike.

The e-bike is a heck of a lot more sensible that the electric Vespa on sale this year.

Yes, I've seen a few.   But we're a country of 320M people, and we have maybe thousands of delivery scooters.  A typical country with that many people would have 20M delivery scooters ....  Long way to go ....

How cool is your pizza? Todays weather: 22 F, 3" fresh snow. Fortunately the gale winds of 50 to 70 m/h are gone and the generator is still pounding out electricity. I live in what most consider a metro area; with really steep grades.  R3~

You would think Tokyo would have a lot of scooters-and t one time they did until they could no longer park on the sidewalk. Hardly any now.
The story for Aprilia was that all their money came from scooters-until helmet laws arrived in Italy. I haven't been to Italy yet so I can't say for sure..
Barcelona had the highest scooter concentration I've ever seen in person, but mostly fashionable people used them for commuting and shopping.

I can't imagine countries with a mostly rural distribution of population plus seasonal uncertainty will use scooters like the Asian countries do.
