New location this year...Susanville.

Pierre and company ALWAYS do a great job putting these on. Food is excellent!

Really good riding area too.

Many WA and OR riders have it on our calendar. It being so close and all. Pierre did a good job at Bodega Bay. Susanville is good riding country!

Gorgeous country and the Lassen Ale House even has a large peice of Guzzi art hanging in back by the brewing equipment.

Just to clarify...this is the NORCAL Guzzi gathering.....not to be confused with the SOCAL N.A.R. gathering which was at Lake Henshaw, CA in mid-October the last two (2) years! :thumb: :cool: :wink: :smiley:

Ian and I haven't signed up yet butt I did do a preliminary route that will probably take 7 hours to go 250 miles or so.  Gotta love those California mountain roads!

We'll be passing through Auburn, Foresthill, Iowa Hill, Colfax, Grass Valley, Downieville, Quincy, Lake Almanor, then on to Susanville.

And I won't have to visit my Cousin at his "College Dorm"!  Susanville Correctional Center

I will weigh in as a Plumas County local (part-time resident now, full time in retirement.)
While I certainly cannot fault 49 through Downieville, the road from Oroville to Buck's Lake/Quincy is epic and has much less traffic. From Quincy you can ride to Susanville via Taylorsville and Antelope Lake, then down Janesville Grade. If you do pass through Downieville and want some vino for the weekend 49 Wines is a wonderful shop, the proprietor Will Clark makes it that way. Best of luck and see you at the NATA, I register soon and will have the new Griso properly sorted by then.

I will be there and hopefully my daughter on her V7 too. I've ridden the area and it's good riding. The Gold Lake Hwy from Sierra City to Graeagle is short but fantastic.

Heavy mountain snow forecast for the last week of March, drought is over!  Should be interesting to see what the Lassen Peak Hwy 89 "closed in winter" conditions will be in early June....

With all the late season snowfall in the Sierra's I'm wondering if any part of this route is affected?  I plan to ride there this coming Friday.

As of 2 pm today Gold Lake Road over the top is closed. Surely La Porte Road too. Not sure about 89 through Lassen.

Thanks Buckturgidson.  Hwy 70 is subject to lengthy closures at Jarbo Gap.  Oro Quincy Hwy in Butte County has a failure so there's a by-pass that uses French Creek Rd (gravel) and Carey (not on any map I have).  Quincy La Port Rd closed.  Hwy 89 in Lassen closed to through traffic due to snow removal.  Hmm. 
May take Hwy 49 then north on Hwy 89/70/147/36.  Or stay on 49 all the way past Loyalton > Vinton Hwy 70 > Hwy 395 to Susanville.  Or just up to Chico and over Hwy 32. At least the temperature forecast for Friday is cooler.  94-degrees as I write this here in El Dorado Hills.

This or via Chico may be your best option, 395 is dangerous, lots of high speed passing by cages in the 2 lane sections. If you take the route above I can recommend a shortcut. The road from Taylorsville (off 89) over Antelope Lake to Janesville is open according to the ranger I spoke with yesterday. It is a nice ride and will save a lot of miles versus going up past Lake Almanor.

Snow in the Sierra passes this late in the year?!? :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :shocked: :shocked: :huh: :huh: Say it ain't so!!

However, last weekend, for our Tonopah, Nevada gathering, Jimbo and Tony were forced to take Jimbo's Hyundai Santa Fe, and could not ride their Guzzi's due to excessive snow over the passes. 

However, the Arizona boys, (JJ, Ronzo, and Pat), motored right on up!!! :wink:
