OK Dusty.

I'll kick it off with this re-tread, for the one, or perhaps two who haven't seen it already.
It was kinda fun.

^^^Nick does really nice work  :thumb:

However don't let his brilliance keep anyone from posting here . Fotoguzzi has some brilliant older work also , as do many other members . Was talking to Deke last night , which is where the seed of this idea was planted .

You'll also find a replica at Maryhill, Washington (next to the Columbia River), which looks very much like this one.

I went to the poor man’s replica a couple of miles North of Salisbury UK.
It couldn’t have been the real one, it looked too small and not old enough...!

Well, this is kind of a boring report, but you asked for it. A cold front came through Tampa last Monday so a couple of friends and I went south to Key West on Tuesday. Temp in Tampa was 43F. That's cold for us. Key West was 70F and we can live with that. Saw lots of gators traveling the Tamiami Trail and some 4 foot long Iguanas in Key West. My friend is retired military so we got to stay in a trailer on the Navy base. Only cost us $20 each per night. Can't beat that for Key West lodging. Returned to Tampa Thursday after it warmed back up. Told you it was boring. :embarassed:

Details Dusty? There's only one way in and one way out of Key West. One Norge (mine), 2 ST 1300 Hondas ( one running a car tire on the rear ) and one K1600 BMW. We drank a lot of beer  :boozing:

On Saturday I rode into the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, to Carabost State Forest. It was only 70km (43 miles), but it's perfect road for a Griso. Fast, undulating sweepers. Quite a few with a reducing radius. Much fun was had. It was a very pleasant 26° C (78° F).

I’ve had these on here before, so if you don’t want to know the result, look away now..!
They are old hat but here goes, you DID ask for it..
I’ve got every PhD in Creswick trying to teach me how to post video, I used to be able to but I forgot.
I’ll get there though..

Most of the stuff I post as ride reports are interspersed with comments on the forum.
I tend to post during the trip because I forget too much over the 6 or 8 weeks.
Anyone who wants to can search..
“Europe and Nordkapp trips”
Or
“Almost that time again“
and that will take you through some of the shenanigans and memories from the journey. I don’t expect there’ll be much for the reader, but it’s there if you wish..

How about a shop report?

Always hated using paint stripper - even before I knew it was a carcinogenic neurotoxin...all the flakes of paint and sticky gel and wondering what to do with it.  Now the methylene chloride has been removed so it's safer but you have to spend even more time with it.

Decided to try lye.  There was a hot tank where I worked as a kid and it removed most paint so tried it on the stove.  Brackets and bolts were painted red.  After a good hot soak paint scrubbed off with a toothbrush.

It worked and a friend had a dead water heater so scaled it up.  Parts have only been soaking a few hours so no final pictures, but the paint is coming off.

Gotta wear gloves and eye protection - don't want the soapy eyeball!

My (former) 2014 California Custom took a road trip - from the big, booming metropolis of Villa Ridge, Missouri
across the state to Kansas City.

I don’t have any ride reports worth reading, but some snippets that come to mind from past (mis)adventures..
Let’s know if they’re not appropriate.
