Breva 1100 battery replacement

      Have to replace the battery in the bike. Doing a search here, looking at previous posts on the subject of battery replacement can leave one more confused than before. Sometimes you CAN have too many choices.  Plus some of the threads were from a few years ago, maybe newer,better choices exist, or some attitudes toward newer technology has changed.
      I expect to keep the bike for a long time, as I'm very happy with it , it checks all the boxes.  What say the collective wisdom here? Thanks in advance.

Yusa good but pricey.

I’m trying a Chrome.  Made in Taiwan with a good warranty shipped to my door for $50.

I hated the Motobat in my 1200 Sport. The little adapters would loosen up and make for a bad connection. If the connections provided allowed for no adapters to be used then it would be much better.

You can chuck the adapters away and screw straight into the terminal with the use of a spacer.

I have purchased two Yusa batteries, and they worked as expected.   If you want to be sure and don’t mind paying a premium , then Yusa is the way.

In total agreement with you.  I generally got four full riding seasons out of a Yuasa.  The only one that didn't fortunately kicked the bucket in less tha one year, and the dealer called Yuasa and got me a new one under warranty, with no proration for the time (9 months) I used the battery.

This is the Yuasa that worked in my 12S and Griso 8vSE.  Double ck, but probably the same as the battery used in the B11.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like all the suggestions so far have been for a lead-acid type battery. What about the AGM's or lithium type batteries? Yeah, I know - another can of worms.

Almost all batteries are AGM these days Absorbed Glass Mat I think it stands for.
I would go Yuasa.

I replaced the ancient Yuasa in my B12 with another Yuasa.
I don't think anyone ever regretted fitting a Yuasa battery.

Yes, all mentioned are AGM.  I wouldn’t go with Lithium, more of a headache than a benefit for this motorcycle.

Note that this model Yuasa was the OEM battery that came with my 1200S and 8vSE .

If you replace with this identical Yuasa battery, you may want to ask the shop where you purchase it to:
- add the acid (these don't come with acid or pre-charged.)
- place on the correct battery charger per Yuasa's instructions.
- charge for recommended interval before installing.

well, my OEM Yusa lasted about 6 years.
I bought a Shorai lithium, cranked faster and much lighter, but anything below 60 and it takes awhile to start, just clicks.
if below 50 it will have to be jumped off.  Shorai did replace the battery at the 2 year mark, no charge dead cell.

I bought a Chrome 2 years ago, and it wouldn't start it at anything over 50 degrees, rode it back from Dallas in 40 degree weather and had to push start it 3 times.
got home and replaced the wire from solenoid to relay, replaced relay, ran a new hot wire from battery to relay.  Not much better, just clicks.

put in old Lithium battery and it cranks.  Not impressed with Chrome, maybe I got a bad one, who knows.
the Shorai is running on 9 years old and it will crank it fine unless its below 60. 

I will be going back to a AGM battery when i replace the Shorai battery.  probably be a Yusa as it never let me down before it failed, cranked in any weather.
