Good thing that is not closer. Even if I am not really interested in one I just could not resist that deal. Ride it for a year and sell it for the price I bought it for. At least that is what I would tell the wife to get he to go along with it.

Norge gets no respect in Bay Area, I have tracked three of the same mileage and vintage that have sold for 3K, fully intact, low miles and good rubber, etc within the past 6 months.  I have no idea with the low resale values of the brand anyone buys new.

Might almost be worth the shipping cost to Mn and have for parts. But it ha s far fewer miles than mine. I would expect more than $4000. For mine here.
Any body near by to check out and give us a report?

I have checked it out, in fine shape.  The initial listing was at $3700, dropped the price to $3400, I mentioned one sold two weeks ago in the area for 3k, asked me if I wanted it, I got no room so there is your report.

Thanks Irn I must have missed your post. Did the owner mention if he still had the lower parts of the fairing stashed somewhere?

Nice bike.  I know if I bought, not that anyone asked, but it would take 1500 bucks min to get it up to spec.  New fork guts (Gold valve), a new rear shock is  a must ( it's 14 years old and no matter how many miles it toast), all fluids, new bearings, and hopefully the brake/clutch containers are not gunked up from non attention.  Then, a Hamlin crank case breather modification to keep all the CRAP from being recycled thru the motor.  Don't laugh.  If you ever saw the condition of the blow by trapped in the filter you'd faint.  It's an incredibly nasty emulsion of oil and water.  Jim has the answer.  Not hard to do but a bit time consuming.

I know, I know.  Nobody asked.  An unsolicited .02 worth.  Carry on.

Jeez King.
New bearings ? Mine has just on 200,000 and has never seen a bearing. Original fork seals. Original clutch...etc.
I just wipe my filter box out during the service when I install the new air filter...Not hard.
I’d just fly there, check the fluids and ride it home. Drop all the fluids when I pull in the shed then go inside.
Fabulous bike.
Just ride it and give it what it wants when it asks...

Yea, I know.  I'm like that.  Gotta go thru top to bottom so I KNOW it's right.  Bearings are cheap-so there's that............... ........

been sidelined a few too many times by friends who "just got it, it's great, and let's go 100 miles to ride" and then wrench, repete, wrench, parts store, blah blah blah.  Probably says more about my friends than the bikes, mind!

If everyone waits long enough it will be.
The course of rivers do move over millenia. Do they still have a bridge over the Mississippi ?

Probably wise to go through the bike but I wouldn't be too worried about it unless there was some evidence of bad or no maintenance. I changed the rear shock and front fork innards within a year of ownership on my 07 Norge but that was elective based on my riding style. Some people are OK with the stock setup. Unless the current owner is the 300+ weight range with a regular heavy passenger I can't imagine the stock rear shock is toast but that will be quickly evident after a few miles.

First gen Norge shocks were way under specked.  They were upgraded in subsequent years and were better but not great.
They are way past the age where there would be no degrading of  the internals due to time alone.

I ran mine medium hard and with the stock shock (rear) set up for my weight (solo with luggage) would routinely bottom out and drag in the WV and New England mountains.  It simply cannot keep up in the rear.  Front forks respond REALLY well to a Gold valve job and as at the age of the bike they are so far past a service interval that they should be fixed when they are removed for fresh fluids.  A few hundred bucks on the front pays HUGE dividends.  But again-that's me.  I've worked with some shop owners on a lot of suspension jobs assisting and know first hand what crap comes out of forks.  Folks sometimes think the service is bullc@@p and a money grab-NO WAY.  They never see how springs rub on the inside and make lovely little aluminum shavings.  They never see the dozen caliper rebuilds done as neglected fluids corrode the internals leading to a complete rebuild-and then complain that "it shouldn't do that".

But that's just me.
