Try a heat gun on that sealer.

Good point.  Since I was dropping the pan, I didn't warm up the bike.  I didn't have a heat gun and after beating on it, I filled it with clean oil and gave up.

I suppose I should apologize for wrecking the thread considering all the outstanding projects.   Sorry.   :embarrassed:

Thanks Clint and LR the cool part for me was finding the breathable , mineral paint as the customer wanted it white like the original chimney. The problem was whoever painted the one we tore down used regular house paint that traps moisture in the brick and over time destroys the brick and morter. Especially with the freezing and thawing we get here. Anyway the right stuff to use is a mineral paint that has a higher perm rating than the brick themselves that allows the masonry to breath. I bought in online from a company called Beek mineral paints. in N.C. water based and brushes on easy like whip cream .

That is really cool, Dave.  I’ll remember that about the mineral paint.

My only cool masonry connection is with some guys in VA who do legit old world recipe lime mortar for period correct restoration work.   They do old mortar, make bricks onsite from proper local materials for important projects, etc.  Real deal Master Mason but Jimmy says “I just like making and laying bricks.”  He took me aside one time to show me the brick shaping/sawing workbench he made from spare pit-sawed lumber during one project.  He said ”you’ll like this- you’re the only one around here that will get it.”  He was right- it was so cool to see real pit sawed lumber that was new & not 150+ yrs old.  He was over the moon to have it.   Sure was great to connect with another guy like that.

1978 Triumph T140V

The project started out as a "Refresh" and has turned into a full resto.  Been at it longer than I care to admit.  Hoping to touch it off this weekend.

Thanks lucian but Nuthin' compared to this craftsmanship.

Just amazing work.

Here you go.

This old hot rod waits in the wings but... I just picked up an '80 SP 1000 that will probably go to the front of the line.

The 650 can leave here, I have the 750 to finish up and still have the T160 Trident so the Triumph to Guzzi ratio should not swing too far the British side...

Been redoing a 2006 Mini Cooper 6 speed manual supercharger. New timing chain, cylinder head and gasket, supercharger service, new fly wheel and clutch (stage three) stainless headers, 15 percent reduction super charger pulley, lightened crank pulley, titanium replacement fasteners for fun (why not) anyways finishing up awaiting a shipment of a couple gaskets and such.

Finished a 2007 turbo Mini Cooper earlier this year.

That looks great, sir.  I’ve got some equipment waiting for similar attention someday.

Right now while waiting for stone to arrive, I’m doing videos of accurately squaring a rough block of granite by hand with plumb blocks, straight edge and level for my YouTube Virtual Stone Carving Apprenticeship series-

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_1Ai-Hj_MMN-dHVeTqtGRQF-EgBbTAql

This is a traditional exercise to train new people how to handle the tools and produce accurate surfaces, edges & corners.  Great practice and a very sublime result.  Hoping to finish side 4 this morning and side 5 this afternoon.

Then the cubed block will immediately be displayed for 6-8 wks in a gallery show as a piece of interactive realism sculpture entitled Kiku (Japanese for “Listen”).  many people claim or ask me if the stone speaks to me….  No.  It’s a piece of stone.

So this block will provide such people opportunity to listen to the stone themselves to see what it says to them before I make something else from it for next year’s show.  Already have plans for it, based upon my apprenticeship adventure.

I missed this post, great work. I haven't found anyone locally who can do that kind of work on our chimney's with most saying to leave all alone if it isn't leaking. But in extreme conditions like a hurricane they both end up leaking some, but not enough to cause any damage. I'd prefer no leaks.

Foot rests for  hot rod Spyder, delicate structure to mount to and odd angles. Left side is roughed in, now I’m getting the right side to match.

1968 Aermacchi Harley Davidson Sprint 250 short stroke motor

Found a NOS con rod / pin and bearing, case bearings, NOS oversize piston, clutch discs, gaskets, seals and new valve guides for it, I am always amazed at what is still available for these old nails.

I plan on putting it in my 1961 Aermacchi Ala Verde tribute bike instead of the 1965 Sprint 250 long stroke motor that is currently in the frame.

Been repairing a 67 Jeepster Commando over the Fall and winter turning it from the "wagon" style to the pick-up truck model. My "daily driver" so to speak though it's been a long time since I drove anything every day. Poor little V700 watching from there on the sidelines.
