Exhaust Gasket, 2013 Stelvio??
« on: June 17, 2023, 01:01:39 PM »
I was going to have an interested party look at my 2013 Guzzi Stelvio next week, and today while it was idling in my garage, when i reved it up a little pieces of exhaust gasket came out by where muffler meets exhaust on left side in area of foot peg kind of.  Is it a big job to replace this gasket??  Dealer charge maybe $500 or more?  Anybody know?

Unbolt the clamp, not unbolt but loose. Unbolt muffler on back under seat. Slide muffler & pipe back twisting fitting. Clean & put on new packing, replace pipe & muffler, tighten clamp.
Look at bike, look at bolts & clamp, now can you do it? $0

Bob, that would only be 1/2hr at a shop.

The packing is same for Kawasaki at only a few bucks, do a search for it.

I used the Kawasaki part, ordered on Amazon I think.
Not too bad a job.

I ordered two so I would have one on hand when the other side let go, then buggered one up when I got impatient. So more spare, but it is a relatively simple repair. I would like to make a new gasket out of a soft metal (lead?) next time to see if it outlast the stock one.

Which Kawasaki model?  Is it a gasket or some kind of other material or,?  I can’t tell until I pull the exhaust back I guess

Guzzi PT# GU05128230          Never bought the Kaw, only installed them.      Don't know what they are made of, silvery, flaky, slick , not good for environment stuff.

https://www.af1racing.com/GU05128230-OEM-Aprilia-MG-60mm-Exhaust-Gasket---GU05128230

Kawi is less than 1/2 of that, if I remember.

Your # is for header to collector, mine is for collector to muffler pipe.
