2007 Norge high beam relay buzzing
« on: September 02, 2023, 04:29:38 PM »
My high beam has been non-functional.  After trouble shooting for some weeks I dug out the relay and replaced it.
This causes the high beam to work, but the dang relay is buzzing when the light is turned on.  Might be why
the old relay passed away.

Any ideas?

You might want to pull your dash and check the bulb wiring, There was an update for wiring sleeves like protection on the wires. Was done at dealerships when bike was new. We were to fix them when bikes came in for a service.

So I swapped out the relay and it started buzzing when the high beam was on.  It stopped buzzing, but now the disconnected ECU symbol is showing and the red triangle of pain.  What wiring to the bulbs needs to be checked?  Could there be a possibility of a short?

From memory  when it blew fuses, you could turn on the high beams and continue on until you could replace the wiring. There were shielded pigtails that needed to be installed on the low beams.
That doesn't sound like your problem, though. Someone with more experience than me should be along shortly..

ECU disconnect is what you get when loosing ground.
Got software? Might show a code.

That makes sense.  Where are the opportunities to lose ground?

I found that Fuse D was blown.  Replaced it and now everything seems to be working properly.   It doesn't satisfy my physicist's need to find cause and effect, but I am open to miracles.

Don't entertain idea of why fuse blew. You fixed it, that's enough. May have been just bad fuse.

I *hate* that, too. I'd carry a spare.
and
go through the complete electrical system with Caig DeOxit. You'll be glad you did.

Great idea, I was using butane yesterday, and I need something with more oomph.
