ratchet strap sling around the tank from the fork clamps

this works on my Breva, not sure if the Norge fairing would interfere

I've had this problem more on the 2012 I had than both my 2007's one of which I currently am riding.  If it is not a lot then I use 2 round rods, punches, screwdrivers or whatever.  Put them on either side of where the bolt goes, slip them into the frame and push the tank forward.  On my 2012 it swelled too much for this to work so I took a either a file or dremel, I forget, and ground the hole so it was enlongated and I could put the tank on.  There was enough just plastic and not tank to do that in front of the hole.

This is how I put the silver Norge's tank back on when I had this problem.   4 years later the red one would just not go.

That is awesome!

Do you think a 2 ton bottle jack is up to the job?

I think a 2 ton bottle jack would be adequate if it was red.

Scissor jack and a block of wood worked well.

I have this on several of my Plastic Tank bikes.

1. Make sure you have some lube on the front tank mount bushings and that you have the tank aligned properly.

2. Two long Screwdrivers leveraged on the frame and squeezed on either side of the bolt tang thing on the tank and leveraging forward usually does it.

3. If that doesn't do it, drill out the mount hole a little larger. Reuse the bushing, and if necessary use a larger fender washer to hold the rear of the tank down.

It's normally a very small amount, maybe 1/16-1/8". Having a second set of hands help.

**EDIT: I saw the jack method, glad it worked for you. Not sure I'd want that much pressure on th emounting bolt and tank, that's why I have widened all mine over time on all but the Griso which for whatever reason hasn't swelled from the tree hugger additive.

One trick I haven't seen mentioned here is to lift the rear of the tank about half an inch. This give the bolt a little wiggle room to get the thread started. This, plus sitting on the bike with my knees pushing on the tank has always worked on mine.
