Bassa restoration pics
« on: October 24, 2025, 11:58:24 AM »
So here are some pics of the 99' Bassa with 67k miles on it that I bought for $1,000 in April. A list of parts replaced is below. Since taking these pics I installed the stock wind screen. I'd hoped to do an early fall multi-week trip, but life got in the way and I'll have to wait until spring when I plan a cross country trip

I cannot thank the members of this forum enough for all the help I received. The Internet may be going downhill, but you all on the Wild Guzzi are an incredibly valuable resource.

Some things of note:

I replaced the rusted front fender and had my local NAPA store custom mix SprayMax paint (another post on this coming soon). I painted the fenders, smaller side panels and universal hard bags that I installed (another post on that coming).

I bought a smaller than stock replacement tachometer after reading that the next size tach would require a larger hole in the dashboard plate. A machinist friend make an aluminum ring to adapt the tach. A little funky but works great.

I also modified the shift linkage per a post that claimed alternate holes (one I drilled) makes for crisper, less sloppy shifts. Indeed this is true.

The rear rack's sissy bar was removed to allow a top box that I bought to be installed (not pictured). It also is color-matched.

The bike came with aftermarket, loud pipes. I replaced them with quieter stock pipes. Thanks NC Dan!

I noticed your smaller tach says speedhut on it. I was able to find a speedhut tach for my 98 EV that fit the oem hole .

I went by Bassa Mark on this forum for many years. I had a black 1999 and then a blue/silver 2000. So, I’m definitely a fan of the Bassa. Yours is looking great. Congratulations on bringing this beauty back.

I’ll look when I get home but I may have a V11 matte silver T cover between your tach and speedo. It reduces glare in the sun and IMHO, looks better as well.
If I still have it, I’d glad to send it to you if you’d like.
