2007 Norge Saga Begins
« on: January 12, 2026, 01:45:34 PM »
Just picked up this 2007 Norge. It has some needs. Has 36K miles on it. Some aftermarket stuff (aux lighting, elect windshield motor spins but screw no longer attached to barrell, right side grip heater not heating) New rear tire last week. Plan to document repairs/mods as I go.

Exhaust is too loud and collector had a crack, see photos.

Anybody know who made this collector?
Can't believe I bought a Guzzi.

The wires on those heated grips can fatigue at the soldered attachment point, especially the right side one.
Easily fixable, but check continuity first with a 12V test lead.
You’ll have to pull the drive mechanism for the windscreen out to see what’s up. My ‘07 Norge wanted a replacement one after one year under warranty. The originals were underpowered, the newer ones were stronger, still good after 18 years.
Keep asking questions about your ‘07, I know mine pretty well, it’s done 230,000 km.

Thanks Huzo, I'll post some pics of the troubleshooting and repairs as I go.

Got the crack welded. Is this collector OEM? I just assumed it was aftermarket.

Not 100% sure on this as my two Norge models were 8V, but on most US spec models, the 'collector' is a catalytic convertor. I seem to recall the same on a few 4V motors I've seen, but others with US Spec bikes can say definitively.  I find that by removing the cat the motor feels a bit more spunky, and revs to redline faster. I have the mistral bypass pipe and can on mine.

Because I'm stoopid, and got confused when looking at the Griso and 1200 Sport, and going on memory with the Norge, I ordered the wrong bypass pipe..... It did NOT need an 02 sensor bung, they are in the headers...... I ordered it in January knowing it would take till at least April to get it, and I was picking the bike up in April. Didn't realize the snafu until I went to swap it out in June. No problem, I had an 02 sensor bung.

Looks like you have it straightened out with the weld, but you can buy an Agostini or Mistral collector/crossover from MG Cycle, AF1 Racing, and I think GT cycles. Probably other places as well including Ebay.

If you need a new heated grip, the Norge grip is NLA, BUT....... The V100 Mandello heated grips work, fit and match perfectly. I ordered one from AF1 Racing when I was doing my refresh. Fits and patches perfectly to the OEM grip.
