22 V7-850 Missing (ignition)
« on: June 21, 2026, 07:50:33 AM »
My '22 V7 has developed a miss, I believe on the left head (haven't dug up a light to confirm).  Idle had been surging a bit at lights, but as of last weeks riding there's a proper miss at idle and sometimes at ~2300-3000 RPM.  I have not had a chance to blow it apart and check for mouse damage, which is certainly a possibility, but is this a known issue/just move this wire here type of thing or am I in it for a new stator/cps assembly?  Wherever I search I can only find info on older 7's and 850T#'s.   She is coming up on the 24K service so I may hold off on any drastic actions till then.

Just do the full service now and make sure you get new plugs. I'd also unscrew the plug cap from the wire and check for corrosion.

They are known to spark to ground, change the plug caps.

for posterity, I went through the caps and cleaned up some corrosion on the spring.  It seems like they might get a bit of moisture ingress on the wire attachment point (or its just high voltage doing its thing).  It fixed 80-90% of the issue.  I ended up swapping the plug wire assemblies and its fully cleared up.

From taking these apart, I believe these are resistor caps, since there appears to be a resistor in them, but as far as I can tell the stock plugs are resistor plugs, which you wouldn't normally stack up.  Maybe something needed to get around a poor canbus layout.
