2024 Moto Guzzi Stelvio.
What engine oil can be used instead of the engine oil from the factory.
Just curious.

Any oil that meets or exceeds the manufacturers specifications/ratings in the proper weight range for you climate.

Brand names or buzz words on the label are not as important as most would have you believe.

Prezz, I know you know your stuff, but I'll add:

Group Three oils are not really full synthetic.  I'll only use Group Four.  Both bottles will say they meet the specs but they are different.

There is way more.  Lake Speed, Jr. has made some very informative vids on this topic.

I buy the 3 5 quart bottles of Castrol Edge from Amazon. Currently $95. A chunk of change but works out to about $6.30 per quart. Was $80 when I bought it last time.

FWIW,  I've bounced between the Liqimoly and Motul until the last 2 years when I started with the castrol edge 10w60 full synthetic oil. It seemed like I always used a little bit of oil between changes until I switched to the Castrol. On my last trip on the stornello, I ordered the full change kit from af1 and they sent the Castrol edge . I flogged the living daylights out of it for over 3,000 MI and didn't burn a drop. I've switched all to it at this point.

I do a 3k oil change and 6k oil with filter on my small blocks, and stick with 6K on the big blocks so this one purchase sets me up for the year.

Any modern motor oil is light years ahead of the motor oils of yore no matter the base being conventional, semi/full-synthetic or true synthetic. The average motorcycle will never see enough run time for the oil base or even quality to ever be a problem.
