I'm a language buff/snob and I get annoyed when people pronounce Guzzi as Guh-zee or Goo-zee or whatever else. It's GOOTSI*, people!  :wife:

(It's a bit more complicated/nuanced since it has two zs, but you get the picture.)

The way you pronounce things in America, wouldn't it be closer to Gootsee? Personally, I'm not bothered by it. We call them "Gussee" in Norway, and that's fine my me. We also say "ny-ork" instead of New York because it's natural. Not correct, but it's the Norwegian way  :D

Until a month ago, the only motorcycle I've owned has been my Kawasaki H2, known as a Kawasaki triple because of its three cylinders.  I standardized on using "Triple Jim" when "Jim" is already taken on a board.  I'm glad I broadened my horizons, by the way.  I'm enjoying the heck out of the contrast afforded by my Mille.  In some ways, the two bikes are opposites, and in others they're pretty similar.  Interestingly, this board and kawi2strokes.com are similar in that the members are a bunch of helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly guys.

My kids (3 and 7 at the time) started calling me Guzziman when I got my first Guzzi about 4 years ago, it was a 1971 Ambassador.  I was always talking about it so they would just roll their eyes and say, "There goes Guzziman again".  It stuck so now that I have 2 it's even worse.....or better!!  Ha ha.

Mine has the obvious AND a backstory...

I do tattoos. Tat2guy. Obvious.

BUT, where the name actually came from was kinda funny... I lived in Philadelphia for 14 years. West Philly, specifically. One night I was near the University of Pennsylvania's campus, in a Wawa (local convenience store chain) around 2 am... Some drunk freshman were in line at the deli counter, and I guess they had seen Boys in tha Hood too many times or something, and assumed that since they were Asian and the clerks were black, there must be some kind of hostility between them, and were deliberately starting trouble... (It was a very common thing to see Penn freshman of all ethnicities who felt like they needed to prove how tough they were now that they've moved to the big bad city... that night it was a couple Asian kids...)

Anyway, just as things are reaching the point where it could get ugly, I intervene, and point out how nice it would be if we all ate sandwiches and stuff instead of calling some parents in Connecticut or Deleware or something to tell them their kid is in the ER cuz he thought he was gangsta, when suddenly one of the girls working the counter recognizes me from the tattoo shop. She yells out to everyone, "WAIT! Don't you know who dat is?!? DATS TATTOOGUY!"

Suddenly everybody shut up and looked at me as if I must be a superhero named Tattooguy or something... And the freshmen apologized... TO ME, first, then to the Wawa workers... Then they left t go sleep it off.

And ever since, I've been tat2guy.

Mine ? Complete lack of imagination it would appear....Mind you I really wonder if some of the achingly cool ones reflect truly the person behind them , bit like Facebook profiles ? If you have a cool moniker and are cool no offense just jealous !!!!!

Segesta is a beautifully preserved Greek temple and amphitheater about 30 minutes outside Palermo. It is always one of my favorites stops when I visit western Sicily (along with Erice and the beach at San Vito lo Capo). In general I'm an Italophile, so I took it as a screen name.

Mine is the name of a song by Lo-Fi indie band, Guided By Voices.  The prolific songwriter (and ex elementary school English teacher), Robert Pollard, comes up with the most interesting song titles, and I thought this one sounded funny as a profile name.

The name is the same, and the age could be correct, but the bike doesn't quite fit - still, did you work and write for Cycle World cirka 1980? Was it you who crashed the KZ1000R? Curious mind would like to know  8)

I was working at Moto Italiano (Guzzi, Laverda, Aprilia dealer) in 2000 with a guy named Sean Fader.
He was looking at me with a real weird and dorky look on his face and then he asked me
"Did you play Dungeons and Dragons in high school?" like it was tattooed on my face (that I was a D&D geek).

So I confessed "yesssss, yes I did."
Sean cackled with glee and started crowing "I knew it. I knew it."
And at the moment I was dubbed "DungeonMaster" at the shop.
Just walk into the parts counter and ask for "DM" and they would get me.
Cuz real given names were never used in that shop.

I hate to spring this on you, but if Sean recognized you as a Dungeons and Dragons geek, he wasn't the only one in the shop that day with a weird and dorky look on his face ....  :D

Came from a 3 generation railroad worker family, Mom's side.  Back to the steam
days. When a toddler, one of Mom's uncles took me up into the cab of his GM&O
freight locomotive and sat me in the engineer's seat.  Still have a pic of the day.
Made a big impression.  After a college stint studying poli sci, got a job on the electrical
construction gang of the NWP/SP RR out of Santa Rosa, CA.  Then moved over to
a 24 year run with Amtrak, 4 to 5 different crafts/jobs/positions.  Medicaled out
in 2003.  So that makes me Railroad Bob.  We still have one railroader in the family
clan, a Metra conductor out of Chicago, my cousin's son.  Last one to carry the "Flag."

When I decided UJM's were not for me,and started riding Italian, the classic 60's Ducati tank badge struck me as interesting, meccanicab was available as a e mail address, so here we are!!
On several of the forum's in the Uk. i'm know as grumpy. My ex wife;s family gave me the nick name, to long a story to repeat!
I now own 2 Ducati monsters, 2 Guzzi's and a Cagiva....a 3rd Ducati is possibly joining the family, pending negotiations.  8)

Back in 1998, I  made the pilgrimage to Mandello del Lario and was telling my personal Guzzi history to one of the older employees, who said: Now that you made to our factory you are a real Guzzista! Like the words of a Stones song > I was pleased to be informed of this...promised to return again, something that is yet to happen.. decided to keep the moniker though...
