Mine is short for Scooter Jockey. I ride motorcycles for a living.

Unfortunately, I still have to work at the shipyard to help pay for all of that living....... ::)

500 days left until retirement, but who is counting..... ;D

Stripping down the "Duck of Death" (long story, from Unforgiven "...that's Duke of Death, not duck.") for a desmo valve adjustment today. Now that is fun.

My partner used to live in Ocean Grove Victoria in Oz. But I got my name from an entry I put in to a photographic magazine (which I won) and I printed my surname very clearly as WYND, in capitals. The magazine printed the photo with my name spelt Wyno so I've tried to live up to it ever since.

6 years of raising my own Clydesdale Horses on the farm in Iowa. Two tours of duty with the Budweiser Clydes at Sea World of San Diego. 12 years on the road with the Hallamore Clydesdales out of Lakeville, Ma. And several years of shoeing the big boys professionally. They're in my blood! ;D I am Clydeman on the Adventurerider Forum. :)

Started riding dirt in the '70's and loved all those Swedish motocrossers that rode Husky's. I spent more time crashing and repairing bikes than winning races. Bengt Phorqs is a play on "bent forks".

In 1986, Yamaha sold a fantastic four stroke single cylinder 600cc motorcycle called the SRX6. A modern day cafe racer, it was great to ride and fit me like a glove. It was like making love to an 18 year old.......and you better have been a man to ride it, because it was kick start only. Once started, you were rewarded with good power and sublime handling. To this day, strafing the back roads of West Virginia with my broha on his BMW either ahead or behind me are my best motorcycling memories.......

I like old machinery. A lot of it is a lot cleverer than people give it credit for, will last if looked after and is a pleasure to use. Like Tiger Moths and radial engines, old tooling and the like.

I especially like steam engines, marine steam in particular. Makes me a shoo-in for being a Guzzi owner then, really.

But technology has its place, for sure, and sometimes "they don't make em like they used to" is a GOOD thing!

If there's an explanation to mine, it might be a description of the look I get as I try to think of a handle that hasn't already been registered.

And, like Shannon and Stephane, I have had all sorts of annoying episodes making my way through life as a male Dana. I remember calling my credit card issuer once and being told 'Our records indicate that you're female'...I kind of lost it that time. Tried the middle name thing for a while, but eventually I just decided I was going to make people learn my name, goddammit!

Mine is a simple combination of the two favorite bikes that I rode at the time I came up with the name for various MC forums: My 2000 Buell S3 (my absolute favorite bike of all time), and my 2003 CBR1100XX. I no longer own either bike, though the S3 is still in the family--my brother-in-law now owns it.

I celebrate my interest in the blues. So, my name comes from the blues legend/meme of the mojohand. Also, in the '70s, some blues musician friends called me "Mojo" (obviously riffing on my first name) due to my strong support fo the blues, as a radio dj and then as a road manager and all-round supporter.

I have since evolved it on other boards to be Mojoguzzi, for obvious reasons. ;)

a few years back I had to pick a name for a Vespa forum I had just joined and I THOUGHT I was giving my old ,mid '70s dispatch call number for my motorcycle courier days. Being my memory was/is poor I gave the wrong one as mine was actuall M11. We had trucks with "T" prefixes and motorcycles had "M" prefixes. Was too much hassel to change the sign in name to M11 so I just left it in error. My apologies to who ever the real M13 was.

I was watching a history channel the other day and apparently (should I say allegedly) the term "A Wild Goose Chase" was first coined by Shakespeare.

Anyway for me the Scottish often get called Jocks and I'm getting on a bit so Old. Its also the name of leg buckling ale (and by US standards you'd probably need an explosives licence to handle the stuff) that's on draft in my local hostelry, 3 pints and the bar just call you a cab without asking.

Back in the early 90's I was living in a buddy's basement and we got another room mate who was also named Matt. He became Big Matt (6'4", 285 lbs) and I became Matt Too. It has stuck and I have used the variations (Matt2, MattTwo, MattAlso) when needed.

Big Matt had a last name that started with "B" and his nickname growing up was ThewBee (matThew B) which I thought was very original.

I love research myself as well ;-T I'm trying to get a job doing this, preferably with NRK (Norwegian version of BBC) for the quality and challenge, but just about anything would do. My job today is as general manager for a small IT company, but it's just to earn money so that I can afford life. Would be far better to do something I'd enjoy every day :BEER:
